Good value when its on sale
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you are looking at this tv because it has local dimming, run very fast. Obviously at this price point it is not a perfect tv. The local dimming is so poorly implemented they should have just not even made it a feature. With that said, I like the tv otherwise, it has a superb picture and the webOS operating system is very well done. Would I pay $999.99 for it? No, but at $699.00 I feel it is a very good value. This is a large entry level tv that meets most needs unless you are a videophile. But I would assume that if you are a videophile you would be spending thousands on an OLED.

Great TV for great price

Was considering Samsung 75 inches which was going for over $1,200. Finally decided to go for this TV. Turns out I made a great choice! I saved about $500 and got a TV with a good size and amazing display. Downside is it has only one HDMI slot. Sound is not great, but that's fine cos I intend buying a sound bar. Watching TV is fun again for me.

Save yourself and your pocket

Only to find out that it is a hardware problem. I’d have to open up the back to adjust/clean it and that just doesn’t work for me cause I have no idea what I’m looking for or doing. Buy another brand. I googled it and this is a common problem for LG.

HDMI port problems

But had to return it because HDMI 2 port stopped working. Exchanged for the exact tv and again HDMI 2 port stopped working. Changed input devices to troubleshoot. Devices worked when switched to another input. Any device plugged into HDMI 2 doesn't work. We so love this tv but are disappointed that we may have to return and consider another brand at this point. :-(

Good tv for price but get spots in it

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unpack carefully. Save the box and all of the packing material in case you decide to return it. I kept putting off this purchase due to other reviews and wish I had decided against it. Most of the reviews are right on target. Missing instructions on product operation made setup ridiculously difficult in getting picture to look good. Bottom line - Would have been worth it to spend a couple hundred more on a Samsung. There's a reason Best Buy doesn't have a sample of this one running in the showroom. (Can't picture putting this unit back in the box and returning it. I'm too old.) If you keep it, here is my suggestion for trying to get your picture to improve: Find the "settings" button on remote. When menu appears on right side of screen, go to the bottom selection which is another "settings" button (red) and this opens up tons of new options on the left side of your screen. I spent hours getting mine tuned and suggest you start with: Picture Mode: Standard Contrast: 93 Brightness: 84 Sharpness: 30 Color: 70 Tint: 0 Color Temperature: C14 Dynamic Contrast: High Dynamic Color: High Color Gamut: Wide Super Resolution: High Gamma: Medium Black Level: Low And, adjust from there to your personal preferences. You will still likely be disappointed. But this could save you hours of setup time. LG - Life is not so good on this product!

I wanted to like this TV

The first one arrived with dead pixels, return/replacement was easy and satisfactory, however now just over 3 months in with the replacement TV and our HDMI port #1 seems to have gone out. Picture quality is nice and was a great value, if only we didn't have these issues.

Poor picture and annoying Smart TV voice

I was shocked that the picture quality is sub-par, I called DirecTV to see if there are issues with my Genie, someone is coming out Saturday. I got 42 and 39 Insignia Flat Screens and both of them have superior picture quality compared to the LG. Additionally, the voice that provides you with commands is annoying and every time I hit the Guide Button to make some adjustments, the Command Voice goes directly to Channel Tuning and I have to continuously restart the process until I can manipulate myself away from the Channel Tuning screen to the screen I wish to use. Mind you, I have DirecTV and all of the channels are programmed so I'm confused as to why the TV directs me to Channel Tuning. When I did the automatic channel tuning, the TV indicated that zero channels have been save, I'm confused. Also, every time I select the Guide Button, the TV requests that I set the TV on the correct time, but, I've already done that but yet, the TV continues to ask me to do so. Is there something wrong with this set and why aren't there an instruction manual.? I'm very disappointed.

Black Friday Deal - Had Bad Optical Out Issues

The optical out (also ARC out) had constant sound drop outs, loud cracks & pops. Some research on other LG TV Black Friday deals via the LG Support website revealed similar complaints on other Black Friday models (different size TVs, but all made for Black Friday). I have since returned this Black Friday version and purchased the previous year's model (exact same TV, with a slightly older WebOS system). Absolutely no issues with my new TV. The Black Friday deal I bought may have been one of a few LG Black Friday deals with the issue (i.e., it may not happen on all of them), but it was horrible to have it delivered, get it mounted and then experience a horrible sound quality from the optical out.

Not worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.For the price, not worth it. Watching tennis is awful. Lines are not white due to color bleed? Not crisp. Not vivid. Lots of ghosting. My Samsung blows this out of the water. I am going to go through the SEVERE HASSLE of returning this 74 pound anchor. Too bad it was a Black Friday deal and not on display in store as it would have saved a lot of hassle. This isn't a paid promo of Samsung, but it's the only thing I have to compare it to. I feel LG should be compensating me for my time associated with removing my old tv from the wall just to be so severely dissapointed by a subpar product. Even call this a "Smart TV" is a stretch. It doesn't have many popular apps my Samsung has (Twitch) and is filled with what I consider unknown junk.
