Purchased this for my son for Christmas. He is active duty in the military and it holds up to all the handling and plays like a gem. He says it's the type of compact tech he needs.

Used it a dozen times or so for DVD and Bluray. Speedy and quiet, software adequate for basic needs, lightweight. Its connecting cable is Y shaped; the idea is one arm plugs in to a usb port for data, the other, much shorter arm for power. As I read elsewhere, this will require 2 adjacent usb ports but only if the one port pluggged in for data does not provide enough power. My laptop has a total of 2 ports one on each side so it would not work with this device at all if that was requred. However, mine did; also, plugging the data port into a powered usb hub works too. Have not tried using a usb extension cable.

This unit came highly recommended by a Best Buy employee. Very nice unit. Small, fast Nd easy to use. It does what it is supposed to do.

This is an excellent Blu-ray player and burner. Very easy to use and you do not have to get any additional software to play Blu-ray dvds. I am very happy with my purchase.

As far as an external device it works well and I don't have many complaints. I wish it was a little more robust as far as staying in place. It tends to move about physically on the desktop since I don't have any practical way to secure it in place. May try some mounting tape later when I'm sure where I want to put it. It is thin and is great if you are concerned about space. After doing some investigating, even though it's USB2, a USB3 is not likely to work any faster, I believe due to the constraints of reading the disk.

This is an excellent product. It's fast, efficient, and it performs flawlessly. And yes, I would recommend it to anyone who needs an external DVD drive.

Needed to burn a play I recorded in 4K of my son's play. Not having a BluRay burner at all and the fact they seem to be getting harder and harder to find as built into machines decided to go with this. Worked flawlessly on the first try. Burned about 12 discs without a hiccup! This is the way to go for certain. I rarely use removable disc drives of of any format these days so it just makes sense to have one drive that I can plug into any machine MAC, Windows and laptop on the rare occasions I need it. Very happy with the purchase.

It may sound like the beginning to an EDM concert when it first starts up but it plays smooooth with no issues.

My wife bought this as an outboard drive for her surface. I checked it out online and then examined it at home. It's pretty good, decent performance and price was good...

Drive works great. Solid performer. From watching BR movies to burning disks. Perfect add on accessory for any laptop without a built in drive. Would highly recommend.

Drive works well. Plays DVDs like it should. Put a blu ray disc in, as the box said blu ray supported, and didn’t work. Turns out you need additional software just to play blu rays. Fortunately I was able to find a free app to do this, but I give it 4 stars cause no where does it say blu ray software separate unless it was in plain eye sight and I’m a dummy for not seeing it. I use the drive on my MAcBook air. Other than software, works very well. No lag or choppiness to video.

Gets the job done but it’s a little noisy and lightweight with a short cable. A great option for mobility but not the best for a desktop permanent install at least in comparison to my older LG bluray burner that features a strong housing.

Excellent unit, it even comes with supporting software.

I purchased this to rip some old family home videos that a relative had recorded to a DVD-R and a Blu-ray rw disc that I wanted to save to my computer and a external hard drive. This worked great for copying the discs to my computer. I did not use the included software disc. I cannot speak on longevity at this point but will report back if there is an issue.

this plus in to any usb and works perfectly. It can also be used on a tv to play blue ray. I bought it to play blue ray on my pc and to burn blue ray disc for storage.

compact, easy to use and reads and writes cd media flawlessly. My only complaint is the packaging doesn't indicate it requires two usb ports for Blu-ray functionality. It will play ordinary DVD's with one usb connection. It does come with a cable that sports two to one USB connector.

If you're like me and travel often and has downtime however can't bring a standard blu ray player with you this is a great deal. Although it's pricy the quality is pretty good. If you don't travel often i'd reccomend avoiding this. I think you can burn movies onto the pc that it uses but i don't bother with that. This device uses 2 usb ports one for power and the other for data so ensure your computer has 2 usb ports on the same side of the computer to connect to. I use this pretty often and i'm sure i'll be using this device for a lifetime! 5/5 would buy another one again in a heartbeat

Although I haven't needed to burn any Blu-ray disks yet, I've been able to use this successfully with both my brand new Windows 10 laptop and my 8 year old iMac desktop. Unlike some other brands, the LG included a suite of Software for the PC. Separate third party software is needed to view Blu-ray discs on the Mac. I was able to reinstall ancient software from DVD just fine though. The only reason it was not rated 5 was the necessity of purchasing additional software.
