Customers value the ease of use, Blu-ray functionality, compact size, and compatibility of the 8x External USB 2.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Disc Rewriter. Many appreciate its performance and the affordable price point. However, some users have expressed concerns regarding the included software and the noise level during operation. The positive feedback on ease of use and Blu-ray playback outweighs the negative comments on software and noise.

This does what it is supposed to. It comes with an install disk for Cyberlink software to play the blu rays.
I used it for a SFF PC I built, because like most of that form factor you cannot easily fit an internal disc drive.
The PC Case is a Fractal Design Ridge, excellent case by the way (aside from the PCI riser card initially only supporting gen 3 speeds, but that's fixed in the later models... and their support team sent me a new one anyway).

The LG Bluray Disc is perfect to complete the task, the slim style allows me to place it anywhere I need. It was an instant addition to my new iMac 4k, which didn't come with and disc reader. LG is a reliable name and performance matches the ease, Plug and Play. Remember it also writes, the best of ALL worlds. With a 4K 27 inch monitor I didn't want to skimp on the quality of output to the screen, don't go back words for a few dollars.

I just purchased a new Dell computer and it has lots of memory and speed but no disc drive. I still have the need for one. This one is plug and play and slim.

I bought this for 3 main purposes - dumping my PS3 game discs, ripping my Blu-ray/4k UHD movies, and ripping my music CDs.
This is one of those rare devices that reads PS3 discs, and it does the job of dumping the game data for me really well. First objective a success then..
I was able to flash the device to read 4K UHD movies, which I was thrilled about. I'm able to build my own local media server now. Second objective a fantastic success...
Music ripping, however, has some strange problems. There are tracks on some of my CDs that this device just won't read for some reason. They are picked up just fine by other $30 DVD readers, but the problem persists here. You would think this would do CDs easily, since it is reading 70GBs of data from each 4k movie, but I guess not. Most CDs work just fine, but for some reason, certain discs are problems for this drive. A pity, because if it didn't falter at the easiest task I threw at it, I would say this drive is perfect.
I still love it though

This is my second of this same model. The first would no longer read blu rays. The point of this was, for me, to read blu rays and be able to burn dvd/cd. My computers around my house no longer have drives, and so the portability was a great feature for me, but the quality of this is just missing. I keep this in one location on my desk and it is plugged in to a powered USB hub so the cables see very little movement. I unplug the hub when not in use. If you are planning on traveling with this drive or moving it around a lot, I would not recommend this drive. As is, it seems to be the cheapest drive available for the features, but do not plan on this lasting a long time.

This device works really well. I've successfully imported CDs into iTunes as well as watched a blu-ray movie on it, and it works great! Only problem is that the PowerDVD program it comes with is outdated and doesn't work very well. However it seems to work okay with Leawo, a free blu-ray player software you can get online.

This item is showing it's age, It is slow at writing BD-R, and seems to be barely compatible with Windows 11. It is functional but quite noisy and the access/seek times remind me of computing in the 1990's. LG software for this device has been discontinued years ago and their website claims it is not compatible with Windows 11- it seems like lazy support for what would otherwise be a good external drive. I am using a 2024 Windows Desktop that otherwise is blindingly fast. What a shame. It's not worth the hassle to return this but I wish I would have bought a different drive.

Don't cha just hate how tablets or some laptops no longer have cd drives. Or if they do, they do not let U r/w or U just have an upload device. if U have one installed. This external drive not only lets U create disc of U R own movies. It also lets U watch them and use it as a re-writeable CD drive for storage. Not to mention it plays Blue-Ray or HD movies on U R tablet

This was exactly what I was looking for. With most Laptops missing a disc drive this was a perfect addition to my system. All the older discs that I have will play using this. The specifications are very good and the device works well. It works well with my Windows Laptop and also my Apple Macbook Pro.

I needed a good quality external dvd drive for instructional videos. After looking and discussing options with the associate I purchased this unit.
It does what is advertised. Easy to set up. Comes with a basic program to read and write. I may upgrade later, for now its fine. The only draw back so far is that it is a bit noisy, especially at start up. Once it is running it smooths out and quiets down.

The very first thing I notice is that this drive has 2 USB 2.0 connectors on a splitter cable. On some systems it may require more power to operate. I use this on an Asus G750jw. It works fantastic. Super fast and not a sound. I have ripped and played movies with this drive. It is by far better than the stock drive that came with the laptop (which sounds like a buzz saw at full spin). I have even considered removing the stock drive from this laptop and just using this drive instead.
