Quite,works well. Worked well with my computer.would buy again

Works better than the Samsung SE-208 it replaced that quit working without warning. Same size footprint without having to deal with a tray that opens out. Quieter unit than the Samsung, Seems to rip CDs slight faster than the Samsung it replaced. Overall very happy with the unit, however I cannot speak on its durability or longevity at this point due to only having it a short while. But I am at this time very happy with it,.

I needed an external CD drive due to the fact that my new laptop did not come with an internal cd disc drive. I am one of those people who still record favorite music on CDs for music enjoyment while on the road (to and from work). I know, I know, old tech - just like my car which is not advanced either, technologically speaking. So, when it was time to make a purchase, I was not looking for anything too elaborate - just an external USB CD drive that would allow me to record purchased music on blank CDs- plain and simple; no fuss. I decided to purchase the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - it was in the right price range and seemed to consist of the mere basics of what I needed. I've used it three times, and thus far it works as well as can be expected. Yes, it is a bit slower than that which I am accustomed (high speed internal cd drives of professional work computers), but this product is for recreational use only via the use of a simple, barebones computer. In sum, this product has thus far peformed adequately. If you are looking for a faster, higher speed external CD rewrite drive, then this will probably disappoint.

This DVD writer actually works well, considering the fact that I had went and got a higher price item and it didn’t exactly meet the iOS needs of my computer, my laptop, but when I came and got this was the one you had in stock at that time and was actually closing time worked really well so I made a really good choice and quality is great customer service was great even though I was the last one in the store. I’m literally made it there seven minutes before closing and I was treated like a very very value customer which I am but that just odd me the most it was excellent service so I always go to Best Buy.

An excellent buy ! The drive in my laptop had stopped reading discs, and I knew if I took it to a repair shop the rapairs would be at least $ 75.00. This drive is compact and fast, and a musc less expensive alternative to computer repairs. Simple plug and play installation, and easy to use. What more could you ask ?

Since laptops with solid state drives don’t usually come with a dvd drive, we got this one at a great price so we can rip cds. Not an urgent need but this dvd drive was a great deal and does a great job. Very portable too.

This dvd player has proven its worth. I have tried various other types from Amazon and had nothing but headache from them, because they basically didn't work. Interestingly, both of those dvds looked just like this one inside and out. I discovered that when I first used this one. Main difference? This one works on the first try, night and day difference from the other ones. And they evidently imitated this one down to the buttons to click. But in the bad ones, most of the buttons looked like they should work but had no response to them. So, this beautiful dvd player deserves a full five stars simply because it is reliable and does what it was created to do smoothly and effectively. Every time.

Very easy to set up and use with my 2019 MacBook Pro. Using it to import CD's into my ITunes library. Came with all the necessary cables (although the MacBook Pro uses only USB-C ports, I needed an adaptor to connect the supplied USB cable to the computer). So far, the unit has performed well. Not too loud, very light weight, reads discs quickly. I would recommend this unit.

Does the job and easily connects to pc or Mac. Very fast in comparison to other brands and if you have music cds it makes it easy to copy and covert music files. Over all happy with this product and it wasn’t a bad price either. I would recommend this device as a must have if you have older cds that you want to listen to on your other devices

My new HP laptop requires external drive to play DVDs. This one was reasonably priced and gives me access to my movies and music. It is lightweight and easy to pack to take with me.

I recently found out that Apple doesn't offer an extended care warranty on their Superdrive. My friend's Apple drive died just after the 1 year mark and was out of luck - You're just expected to keep buying $100 peripherals every year or so... Having just gotten a good deal on an iMac, I was considering how best to continue optical drive support. The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive is perfect! Right out of the box, no driver installation is needed. iDVD and iTunes recognized it immediately. I played DVD movies and burned some playlists to audio CDs. It does what it's supposed to, and even with an additional 2-year Geek Squad coverage, I came out paying less than half of what the Apple Superdrive costs... I definitely made the right choice!

Simple plug and play operation, recognized by Windows 10 immediately. I have only used it for reading data discs and playing movies on two machines (an HP laptop and a gaming PC), which was my main reason for the purchase. For the price paid (a couple of dollars more than the no name ones on Amazon and Ebay), it was well worth it. I would buy again.

The LG 8x external DVD drive is inexpensive, very simple to hook up, and simply plug and play. I hooked it up in a couple of minutes, put in a DVD containing pictures, and it works perfectly. Have also used it for DVD instructions for a TV and a camera. Great product!

Light weight USB 2.0 DVD. Easily recognized by Windows 10. Seems ultralight. Writes and reads many formats and disc sizes including DVD-DL. Low cost and I bought it on sale..hooks up instantly with my Insignia tablets. Also my HP Ryzen 7 laptop. Tray loading. Two modes. One for TV. One for PC/Mac LG products are generally well respected. I especially like their HDR 8k Videos.

This plug & play DVD/CD burning drive is perfect for my needs, especially at the Black Friday price of 20 bucks. I transfer my older metal bands' 80's & 90's concerts from VHS tapes to DVD, and then burn them, & this works perfectly (so far). I already did about 9 DVDs. My only word of advice is to be gentle with this when putting a DVD in the tray (or handling it in general). It feels like the disc tray could break easily if one is not careful. But when one takes care of his/her things it should last till the laser burns out. I might get me another (too bad the Black Friday sale is gone). Still a good price even at regular cost. I recommend. Works good. Easy to use.

Works, lightweight, not too noisy, not too slow, don't need it very often, but when I do, it does the job

I purchased this drive since my newer laptop did not include one. I have mainly been using this drive to import music from my CD collection. This drive is very simple to use -- straight plug and play with no drivers/software to install. It is very quiet and works fast. I highly recommend this external drive.

I have been converting all of my DVD's to digital format - and since newer computers don't ship with a DVD+R - I decided on this. It's thin, lightweight, quiet, and works like a charm. It was plug-n-play on both my Mac and PC. Great drive.

Although I was disappointed that my new computer didn't include a built-in cd-dvd player, this external drive is perfect! It couldn't be easier to use and the price was just right. Would recommend to anyone over a certain age with a huge CD/DVD collection that's old-fashioned like me!

Good price, works great, compatible with many CDS. I’m using to copy music CDs to my computer. Very easy with this drive.
