I bought this for a friend for Xmas. More and more laptops are being made without built-in cd/dvd drives, most people don't have a need for them....until you do. My good friend got a newer gaming laptop last year in April, it didn't have a cd/dvd drive. He's one of those people who likes playing older games and needed a way to access them off of their CDs. This was a great purchase for him. He's had nothing but good things to say about it. No issues.

Functions well on my computer. DVD drive is excellent and functions beautifully as advertised. I also have an old lap top computer that does not have the appropriate software and it does not work on that devise. But that is a problem with my lap top. If you want to use it with an old lap top computer, check to make sure that it is compatible with your lap top computer.

Its a good cd and dvd player. I use use it to watch Redbox movies every so often. If I was going to use it often, I would invest a bit more and get the step up whoch is the silver one. This is a plastic base player that has a tray that comes out to load the disk but the silver one is a metal base player that takes in the cd instead of using a tray. for anyone using it everyday that one is more durable. Otherwise this one is good for basic and regular use

Laptop didnt come with dvd player/reader. This one was fast and inexpensive. Great buy.

Since my laptop does not have a DVD/CD drive, I needed to purchase one. My need was to be able to download music from CD's so I could add to my iPod, and this worked perfectly. It is easy to use and does what I need it to do. Very portable so I can just put it in my laptop bag without taking up very much space.
