LG external portable DVD player

I had an LG silver slim DVD external drive previously that broke due to me leaving it in my backpack with heavy items. It was wonderful. This drive was much cheaper than the other one but I thought what the heck let me give it a try. I don't like that its not user friendly or maybe I just don't understand it. I tried downloading the disc suite that came with the DVD player but I could not get it to work with the MacBook. the player kept saying I needed an app to download the content from the cd that came with the DVD player. I gave up and tried just using the DVD player solo and walla it worked, I was able to play a movie and open one cd that contained some save content. I guess it'll do for the things I'm trying to accomplish at this time but I will be going back to purchase the other one in the near future.

They suggested purchasing an external drive from someplace like Best Buy. I took their advice, went to Best Buy, and with the assistance of a knowledgeable agent, my problem was solved at a cost of under $45. This was a pleasurable experience.

Nevertheless it does the job, and its good if you need a cheap little dvd or cd drive for your pc. Also keep in mind, on the back of the box it has a cancer warning, but that maybe because of just some of the parts on the inside that causes it. So far I havent had any cancer symptoms that I could see.

Bought it because the laptop a family member uses does not have an optical drive. I've bought other LG drives in the past and get about 2 years of hard use out of them. He should get much longer life. Only had to update firmware , drivers updated themselves. Included software is OK.

Works well on macbooks with adapter.

You will need an adapter cord for it as there are no hdmi ports on new apple products ( a pain) but this does the trick once you plug into adapter.

As a teacher this work great and he loved it. He got to show his French class a Grinch movie in French for the last few days before Christmas. He said it worked great! Now he will be able to back up his files and he said it was very easy to set up!
