What I like best is that the drive door opens with a press of a button. I never thought this was important until I could not open the door of my previous drive and had to pay a repair tech to open it. I didn’t have a thin enough needle to stick into the tiny hole that opens the door.

I was told that many computers are built not to have the internal drive. That the present and future needs are a flashdrive. That CD and DVD are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

I had burned some of my drawings and large artwork to these CD's. I purchased this device to see if data was still in tact. SURPRISE - it was. Reader works great, its quiet and fast. However, yes However, you will need to place it on something to raise it up. Hard to open laying it flat on table. I would buy again.

After reading reviews this one seemed to be a logical choice. No extra software and only uses 1 USB port. I mainly use to convert cd's to iTunes of use to convert DVD's to MP4's with my WinX DVD ripper program and this LG is fast. No issues in nearly a month of use.
