I was told that many computers are built not to have the internal drive. That the present and future needs are a flashdrive. That CD and DVD are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

It helps me with programs that needs to be downloaded from a disk and the item is at a affordable price. This item will be the same item I'll buy next time to replace the old one.

This external drive simply plugs into a standard USB port. Power on the computer and the driver is automatically installed and it’s ready to use, couldn’t be simpler. NOTE: The external SuperDrive I have for my Mac notebook does not work with a PC, but have yet to test if this works on a MAC.

I had burned some of my drawings and large artwork to these CD's. I purchased this device to see if data was still in tact. SURPRISE - it was. Reader works great, its quiet and fast. However, yes However, you will need to place it on something to raise it up. Hard to open laying it flat on table. I would buy again.

I plugged in the DVD drive and Windows 11 recognized it immediately. I was installing my software and watching movies in no time.
