I'm behind the times, all of the new computers want to "Be in the cloud", but I want my data kept locally. My many DVDs and audio CDs are still great and I want to keep it close. The LG DVD is easy to store and trivial to install and use.

awesome product.. my previous DVD drive was not playing older DVD's with some scratch on the disks. However this new DVR player plays ALL those DVD's without any hiccup. Highly recommend!!

Needed an external CD drive for a program that I used when I had to replace an old laptop that had a CD drive. This external drive is easy to use and works great with my new laptop. Would recommend. Can't beat the price.

I bought this Drive since the ASUS desktop didn't have a preinstalled CD/DVD drive. Cost me around $40.00 and so far as done what I've asked it to do. I haven't burned any CD's or DVD's yet so the jury's out on that one.

I had to buy this because I like to keep all of my cds on my pc. I bought a new pc that doesn’t have the burner and iTunes screwed up my library so I had to buy something to rip my 400 plus collection. The speed hasn’t changed much since my 2011 burner but it did the job and at a nice price. I haven’t tried to rip a dvd yet so I can’t comment on that.

The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive is another "must-have" accessory for those purchasing a new laptop, very few of which have a built-in optical drive. This external drive provides the ability to read and write to CDs as well as single and double-layer DVDs. If you have software or media on these older media, you don't want to be without this product.

Great xmas present for my husband. He needed something to store his video games on and was excited to get this in his stocking. Works awesome and easy to use.

Good value for the money. Most pcs don't come with an internal drive like this anymore, so although I don't use it too often, it more than does the job. Perfect to install the software suite that comes with pc motherboards if you don't want to go digging for the downloadable files on the website.

Quiet running CD ROM for my needs and very reasonably priced.

We had some software that was only available on CD and all our WIN OS compatible laptops did not have a CD drive. This was the least expensive one I could find in stock. It did the job and my trainer was happy with it.

Lightweight and seems to work well. Haven’t had any problems with mine.

Most things these days are getting smaller and slimmer, including laptops. So, things gotta go. Plus, just about everything is in the cloud or downloadable from the internet. Some of us still have the occasional use for a disc drive and this works plenty well for any needs I have had thus far.
