This external drive provides the ability to read and write to CDs as well as single and double-layer DVDs. If you have software or media on these older media, you don't want to be without this product.

External DVD/CD

Since my new computer does not have a cd/dvd drive slot like my old one, it gives me the opportunity to watch and use dvd/cds that I still have around the use. I also have several teaching dvds that I can use with my students to show animations of various difficult concepts.

Worked fine for installing software.

It did the job at a modest price. Not used for viewing recorded material or writing DVDs.

Much hasn’t changed

I bought a new pc that doesn’t have the burner and iTunes screwed up my library so I had to buy something to rip my 400 plus collection. The speed hasn’t changed much since my 2011 burner but it did the job and at a nice price. I haven’t tried to rip a dvd yet so I can’t comment on that.

tossed my 8 track tapes, cassettes and vinyl

My many DVDs and audio CDs are still great and I want to keep it close. The LG DVD is easy to store and trivial to install and use.
