It allows me to watch DVDs (and listen to CDs) instead of streaming. As I have 700+ DVDs of classic films and television shows, and don't own a television, this is important to me.

Most new compact laptops have eliminated the CD drive in order to save spave and weight. This easily portable LG drive fills that void inexpensively and efficiently.

Nice External DVD Writer

It's done great on a laptop with no built-in drive. Gets it's power from USB, so no power cable is needed. Very quiet & easy to slip into your laptop case!

solid basic external drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Modern laptops often don't come with a drive so I needed a basic, reliably external for a fair price so I could play/rip some audio CDs to move into iTunes and this did the trick. Worked well, not noisy, looked good, solid cable connection, a little flimsy feel to the tray when fully extended but that's not unexpected in such a small light device. good deal.

I have several older games on cd/DVD, and I needed a drive to install them. This works great for installing and running the games, plug and play. I have also used it on my mac too! same plug and play without issues.
