Fewer laptops are coming with a dvd drive, as everything is going digital. But there are still those of us who use discs. When I bough my new laptop, this little drive allowed me to continue using discs. Just plug it up, insert disc, and proceed doing what you wanted to do.

Excellent external drive. Works well with laptops not equipped.

The new laptop I had purchased did not have a CD/DVD player. This works great, is small, lightweight & easily portable, plus being very reasonably priced. Simple, easy to use, no complicated instructions, both plays and records. It met my needs perfectly.

Ultra slim and convenient. All I wanted was a DVD Player for my computer and not some bulky contraption. The sales lady showed me yes and I fell in love. I brought it home plugged it in and Wala it worked great for what I needed!

So few computers nowadays have a built in DVD/CD drive or even a spot to install one. Some of us like to use such a drive for various reasons so this is a quick and easy solution. This drive works great and is easy to use and easy to store away when not in use.

Great option if you do not have an optical disk drive on your laptop.

This is very nice and compact DVD/R/RW disc writer, and as an external USB device, the drivers set up okay, and I suppose quickly. But didn't notice any delays for my PC to recognize it. I noticed particularly how quickly it responds to the open button in front as well as the eject command from the PC.

Laptops no longer have the CD drive but this takes care if that issue. Works as expected, no issues reading disks or burning CDs.

This LG external drive works great right out of the box. Great for newer Desktops and Laptops that do not come with internal drives. Easy to use and the cable is long enough so you can place it beside a mid tower desktop OR on top. Very convenient to have.

Great value for burning some Mp3 files for my old car. My HP laptop doesn’t have an ODD, so this is useful to install some old sofware or transfer files.

I am very, very pleased with this product. I want other potential buyers to know that this DVD drive WILL convert Sony Camcorder 8 cm mini discs because it has a drive that slides out to load. I am THRILLED by this because it has taken me several years to find a product that will accept the 8 cm mini discs. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that sometimes the disc drive will not open and needs to be popped open (there is a small hole in the front for re-setting). This is a small inconvenience for me balanced with the fact that I now have home movies on my I-Mac that I have not seen for years. I am thrilled!

DVD player is nice and easy to install, plug and in and load the dvd included.

I purchased this for my Mac mini and it was perfect. The drive was easily recognized and it performed flawlessly. I was able to load the software with no issues. Since I only needed it to download files it has been disconnected and stored for future use. I may break it out again and attempt to burn files to DVD.

works well, computer recognized it immediately. Seems fast enough. Was good for the sale price.

I purchased this to rip my movies and music to my computer and play my remaining dvd's as well. The Mac OS operating system has the necessary drivers to perform the functions I require and the player/burner is also very delicate but performs the functions quite well.

Had many CDs from years pass and wanted to ensure the info was still valuable and usable. Easy to use with new laptop.

Purchased this because most laptops do not have CD/DVD drives. We have some software on disks to load onto a new laptop. Connects easily via USB to new HP laptop and were able to install without a problem. Speed was not an issue either. I've yet to burn anything, but do not expect poor performance.

Not much to really say other than to say that it works as intended. I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I wish it had a little more durability, I do worry about just throwing it in my bag, but that issue pertains to all external DVD drives

Just plug in and play. I have a newer laptop that doesn't have a cd player. I just needed something simple as far as nothing to download. All I had to do was connect the player to my laptop and it played with no problem! Plus it was a reasonable price. No complaints!
