good dvd drive good value recommended easy to use and setup

This is a life changer when you need it to do your job. It does not take up a lot of space.

Nice product to have on hand since many laptops do not have CD/DVD drives built in anymore. You never know when you might need to plug this in and install something off a disc. Or is also handy if the drive in the PC has failed or won't read a particular disc.

This works great on my laptop and on my husbands Apple computer. Since you can't seem to buy a computer with a hard drive anymore.

Purchased this reader on Black Friday because of the price. Most of software that I purchase these days doesn’t come on physical media, nor did the laptops I recently published come with dvd drives. In the rare occasion that software comes on a dvd, I have this drive.

I am very, very pleased with this product. I want other potential buyers to know that this DVD drive WILL convert Sony Camcorder 8 cm mini discs because it has a drive that slides out to load. I am THRILLED by this because it has taken me several years to find a product that will accept the 8 cm mini discs. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that sometimes the disc drive will not open and needs to be popped open (there is a small hole in the front for re-setting). This is a small inconvenience for me balanced with the fact that I now have home movies on my I-Mac that I have not seen for years. I am thrilled!

This unit does read my CD discs I have not tried DVD nor have I tried the write process. I was frustrated that there were no written instructions. I was able to figure out what to do when I inserted the disc included and figured out what option to select. Once done, everything seemed to go well.

Have a new laptop so needed to be able to watch movies or listen to CD's. My old laptop had a built in player, so I am spoiled that way. Not techie so I need something easy to use.

This optical reader is a nice to have in times where laptops don't have CD/DVD drives anymore. Some content (like music) is still distributed via CDs (usually higher quality than streaming services) and backing up this content is good practice. The device itself is doing the job. Didn't write/"burned" CDs with it yet

This unit works great when you can get over its one issue...the connector. The MicroUSB port on this is hard to use and must be pressed firmly into place...so firmly you feel you might break it. Other than that it is very fast and works great.

Very happy with this external CD player. Using it to listen to books on audio disc and the sound is clear and powerful.

I use a MacBook Pro 13" w/Touch Bar for my day-to-day activities, and a Windows computer at work. This external DVD drive works without a hitch on both platforms. Best of all? It doesn't require any drivers. It's just a matter of plugging it into a USB port and putting a DVD/CD inside. Couldn't get easier!

This works very well, especially when you can find it. I spend more time looking for this thing than I do using it. I’d like to blame the product for this, but I’m afraid I can’t. maybe I should ask the ‘president’ about blame shifting. I bet he’d figure it out.

Laptops no longer have the CD drive but this takes care if that issue. Works as expected, no issues reading disks or burning CDs.

A necessary purchase for any modern laptop. I know why they don't have disc drives, but these should really just be incouded until physical media dies out (which is dountful to happen anytime soon). Works great and does what it needs to do.

Comes in handy as most desktops and thin laptops do not include drives anymore. Good price and easy set-up. Good to have on hand for those times you need a dvd drive.

Small and light plug&play on MacBook Pro 16", but needs USB to USB-C adapter (not included). DVD Player came right up and started playing the movie. Included software is not needed on Mac.

I have used this several times on my laptop with no issues.

Perfect I didn’t have to sacrifice certain ports for a cd/dvd rom all i had to do was plug it in usb A and can use it even on my Tv and literally on my garmin60 miles out in the ocean If my girl wants to watch a Movie…
