The external USB DVD drive will be used for TURBO TAX and other software. I purchased it in advance of need, but it was helpful for my new computer setup due to Willmaker and other software which had to be loaded. Easy to use.

The new computer we purchased did not have an optical drive. This unit had a good price and the features we needed (read and write DVD but no need for Blu-Ray). Used it to load programs into the new computer. Speedy and easy to operate

This thing is amazing! It is literally plug-and-play. My Windows 10 laptop found it right away and it works perfectly. Considering it's an external drive, it runs pretty fast, too. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this drive to anyone needing an external DVD.

Instructions were nonexistent as to where to find the software on the included CD to download. After finding and downloading it, the drive worked ok. So far, I haven't used it for anything else other than to view DVDs.

I needed an external CD drive because my new laptop did not come with an internal cd-dvd disc drive. I decided to purchase the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive because it was available at a good price and seemed to provide the basics of what I needed. I've used it several times, and thus far it works fine.

I bought this for a computer I built that didn't have a slot for an optical drive. I won't be needing to read or write to disks very often, but when I do this will do just fine. I've used it to install a couple drivers and some software and it worked perfectly.

The new laptops do not have a DVD drive, I have some original software in Cds and Dvds, so I was needing this. It works perfectly with different laptops brands, just plug it and it works, it was not necessary for me to download any software.

An external drive is just what I needed to add to a netbook that has no CD/DVD drive. Now I can read and write with those media.

I bought this to go with my new computer (which didn't have a CD/DVD RW drive). The LG works great! I don't need it very often, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I haven't had it very long, but it's worked just fine whenever I've used it.

easy setup and does what it needs to do with no problems

I've had this for close to 4 months and I've used it several times. It works as intended with no problems. The price was good as well.

I had many CD and DVDs that I was not able to use when I purchased a laptop as a replacement computer. I needed something to read these discs and back them up on either external hard drives or flash drives. I am glad I did since I had many photos stored on the discs.

I originally purchased the standard CD/DVD player but swapped it out for this player. The players are similar, pretty straight forward set up. Easy to use for data purposes but I did have some issues playing DVDs. Had to download some software and even then went into the store to get some technical support.

This was the easiest set up for me, had to read something on a disk and ordered online at best buy, it did the job of reading my disk, would recommend to anyone needing an external drive.

Bought this as my laptop is keeping with the times and doesn’t care for a CD/DVD player lol. So yeah, I had some old stuff on a few disc I need to upload to my computer and bought this handy dandy reader! Thank you Best Buy (:
