I bought a laptop a couple of years back that didn't have a cd drive. I finally decided to move my itunes to my pc from my mac because it was dying. I needed something so I could load more cds that I hadn't gotten too yet. This worked great and did everything I needed.

I got this for my mum, as I have one myself. I have watched many a movie with this drive, as laptops just assume you only stream movies. I've even watched a European movie that I love, no problems. I also took it to work to re-load an old scanner on a computer without a drive. This drive saved our biscuits. I have not yet coped to a disk, so I can't say much of it's writing function. All in all, I really like this DVD RW/CD-RW drive.

Just needed a cd drive to preserve some old music and pictures. This drive did the job quick and easy

Laptops are becoming thinner all the time, this means that DVD players are no longer part of the computer. This external DVD player and recorder is a good addition. Not everything I use is streaming and so it is necessary for me to have a player and recorder.

I needed a cd players to download on my computer. This worked for what i needed.

its sad that today's devices do not include a CD/DVD drive. This one of the best drives out there for the money. With an Apple device just connect and you are good to go. With a Windows product you will need to install the software or the included CD.

It's a dvd player, does exactly what it is supposed to do. New laptops don't come with a drive these days, so having the ability to plug one in as needed is great.

Tax time came, so I came home with Turbo Tax. With Myer computer, where does the CD go? Oops. Quick trip to Best Buy and $39, the disc drive is connected to my computer, and taxes are finished on time. This unit works on both PC and Apple computers.

This works perfect with my HP Envy 360. Lightweight and small so it doesn't take up a lot of space on the desk when using. Perfect for when my husband wants to look at old military photos he has saved on discs.

It does what I need it to, burn stuff onto disk. On mine the drawer is a bit twitchy and sometimes the drawer will not open when I press the release button, so I have to use the plan B eject button on the laptop to tell it to open, but it doesn't always stick. It's cheaper than the apple counterpart so I'll live with it.

Today is 6/17/25. The LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer is packaged with obsolete 2016 Cyberlink Media Suite software that will not play DVDs. Neither Best Buy nor LG will accept returns of opened products. So, the customer has to find free (very basic) software online to use the device, or pay Cyberlink for PowerDVD, currently priced at $60. Neither Best Buy nor LG explains this in writing prior to purchase.

I needed a external drive that works with a new laptop that no longer had a DVD drive. This does everything I needed it to do, very completely and efficiently. It works well with Windows.

Works as well as ones costing twice as much, but only needs one USB connection to run.

With most laptops not having an optical drive, this optical external drive is a must have and does not break the bank. Great for loading software and watching movies from CD’s. Comes with everything you need right out of the box.

Need a disc drive for gaming computer. Hey, they still work! I don't like always down loading from the Net.

I bought this as soon as I bought my first desktop that no longer has one built in. I haven't used it yet, but I had to have it handy just in case.
