Laptop like the Microsoft Surface and others no longer come with a CD-DVD player recorder. I needed this to access my dozens of saved photo, music, and data CDs I can use this on multiple devices.

My laptop DVD player stopped working so needed an external drive. This was inexpensive and easy to use. I connect only when needed so it spends most time in a drawer. Reads all movie disks I've tried. I haven't tried burning anything yet.

It is very easy to use. (Idiot-proof) It is easy to transfer items. I wish they would put the drive in laptops, again, but this was easy. Only complaint was a bunch of extra space and more cords.

Great for pulling out old DVDs and watching them on May laptop.

This DVD player fits under my existing HP all in one pavillion and performs perfectly. This is exactly what I needed because my onboard DVDplayer failed and I couldn't replace. it easily

Easy to use. Did the job of uploading the disc to my laptop.

Apple no longer includes disc drive because they cater to customers who download software, music and movies, but some of us oldsters still have CDs to play (especially from indie musicians not on Spotify). This does the job for under $20! Ding 1 star for cheap plastic body.

I bought this LG drive in an emergency when my Mac Superdrive suddenly stopped working. A bunch of reviews alluded to the fact that the Superdrive died pretty much "on schedule," so I wasn't thrilled about paying Mac's price for replacement that would likely also last only a year. The LG had a much more palatable price tag and some pretty good reviews. So far it has performed well. No problems with connectivity or mounting, transfer, or mechanical performance. The two noticeable differences are sturdiness (this is nowhere near as solid feeling as the Superdrive), and speed. Not as fast as the Mac, but not by enough to be a deal-breaker. NOTE that I have so far only used the drive for transferring data from discs to Mac. I have not burned anything nor have I used it for playing media, so no insights there. But if it continues to perform this well I'll probably be OK with spending another $30+ if it dies a year from now.

This is a great dive to have for those old dvds or CD's you may still have around. Convert to old files to new SSD drive. Works with USB port on laptop or desktop.

Been A good recorder for DVD's & CD's, came with a recording software but read in another review that it was a trial version, but I had my own recording software already , was Power2go & work great with that one

The price was very reasonable. It burned my home videos to DVD fairly quickly. It does seem to be really light weight, it actually feels rather fragile, other than that it seems to be good quality.

Nice price and does what it needs to do. Haven't had any problems using it.

This disc drive is a great external usb one for laptops that don't have one built in. It has a fast read speed and isn't very loud at all during operation. The price is great and makes it a great value disc drive!

Used it a couple times already. Didn't seem to have any issues playing a DVD, Blueray and downloading some items bought for my upcoming university class.

If you have CDs and your PC don't come with CD player, this is the one. Make sure you check if it is compatible with your PC.

year later review and so far has worked flawlessly. needed as add-on for laptop since they dont have CD drives anymore. needed to load my music in from CD collection.

It works as advertised. we used it with Turbo Tax CD.

I am very happy with the external disk drive. When I bought my laptop I did not think I would need a disk drive, but at the most inconvenient times I would need one. Problem solved perfectly!
