I bought a new computor and found out it did not have a CD Drive. I called Best Buy and they say the new ones usually dont come with one. So he directed me to this and it works wonderful. Thank you again BESY BUY.

I bought this LG drive in an emergency when my Mac Superdrive suddenly stopped working. A bunch of reviews alluded to the fact that the Superdrive died pretty much "on schedule," so I wasn't thrilled about paying Mac's price for replacement that would likely also last only a year. The LG had a much more palatable price tag and some pretty good reviews. So far it has performed well. No problems with connectivity or mounting, transfer, or mechanical performance. The two noticeable differences are sturdiness (this is nowhere near as solid feeling as the Superdrive), and speed. Not as fast as the Mac, but not by enough to be a deal-breaker. NOTE that I have so far only used the drive for transferring data from discs to Mac. I have not burned anything nor have I used it for playing media, so no insights there. But if it continues to perform this well I'll probably be OK with spending another $30+ if it dies a year from now.

This thing is so light and slim, I wasn't sure if it would be up to the challenge, but it performed well. I think at times it can be a bit loud but I don't use it very often so that is okay.

Quick easy connection, no brains needed to work with it...just the way I like it.

Been A good recorder for DVD's & CD's, came with a recording software but read in another review that it was a trial version, but I had my own recording software already , was Power2go & work great with that one

Laptops rarely come with CD/DVD writers any more, and sometimes I need to be able to watch a redbox when travelling. Lightweight, powered by the USB, priced right.

This disc drive is a great external usb one for laptops that don't have one built in. It has a fast read speed and isn't very loud at all during operation. The price is great and makes it a great value disc drive!

Perfect lightweight easy to use pl ug in external unit. Not to mention it's under $30 can't beat it.

Just a simple external device to ad cd capability to my simple laptop. Inexpensive. I got good advice from the sales person showing me what I needed for my purposes with no up selling stuff.

Laptop like the Microsoft Surface and others no longer come with a CD-DVD player recorder. I needed this to access my dozens of saved photo, music, and data CDs I can use this on multiple devices.

It is very easy to use. (Idiot-proof) It is easy to transfer items. I wish they would put the drive in laptops, again, but this was easy. Only complaint was a bunch of extra space and more cords.

It does everything I expected and easily. Didn't waste time trying to use it.

This works very well with both of my laptops. I have run both movies and CDs with no problems. It is easy to carry with the laptop in the laptop case.
