Nice small little unit. New computers do not typically come with one now. Still need it to make CDs for church recordings.

I had a (far) more expensive drive fail at a critical time and ended up grabbing this one. It has worked perfectly from the moment I plugged it into the USB port on my laptop. I was able to watch and transcribe video without needing to copy the video file to my hard drive, which is more than I could say for its predecessor.

Surprisingly light and sturdy, this LG external CD/DVD reader/writer was just what I needed, when I had to transfer files from my old computer to my new one. Even though it comes with a disc pre-loaded with a few programs, I had no trouble using the device without it (attaches via a standard (type A) USB cable). I have read and written text files, images, and videos, both of my own creation and from previous discs, and have checked the written ones on another computer and CD/DVD player with no issues. It is surprisingly quiet, and I appreciate the LED indicator flashing as it processes (when I watch a movie using it, I turn the unit so the LED is away from me to avoid the distraction). FWIW, I selected it for two reasons: It was half-off during a sales period, and because of the LG brand, which I have, happily, used with numerous products over the years. When not in use, I unplug it and store it in its original box.

Small and company and plug and go. Reasonably priced as well.

Wonderful addition to laptop perfect when power is out kids can still watch movies

I have some files that I receive on CD/DVD and I needed to transfer them to a flash drive to use them. I bought this, along with a 4 port USB hub, so I could read the CD/DVDs on my Surface Pro. It does require external power. (Surface Pro can't run it from the USB port.) But, it was reasonably priced and met my needs.

I needed a DVD player and the Best Buy associate ("Geek Squad") was able to provide me with this product.

In came in on time and works as it should, it actually works better than I thought it would.

The reader works fine; it is just frustrating that my current equipment would not fit my new Mac.

After opening the box I found that the burner was, in fact, inside. After that great start I found that it did indeed plug in via USB. From there it was a literal cavalcade of DVD burning activities, for work and pleasure. 10 stars out of 5! Works especially well with blank media.

Most new laptops no longer come with an optical drive & I needed one. When I saw this LG at a good price & it only needed one cord, it seemed perfect. And so far it is except I wish the cord was longer. I did have an old CD/DVD drive which also worked well but needed 2 cords (that was 2 too short cords) and that was awkward. This LG is much better and less noisy.

I BOUGHT THIS EXTERNAL DRIVE BECAUSE COMPUTERS TODAY DON'T COME WITH IT STANDARD. it hooks up very easily and works excellently. it is a good buy for those of you who kept their old programs and/or games and want to install them on their new computers.

I needed an external DVD drive to load versions of software that I had on disk to my laptop that does not an internal DVD drive . This drive is very quiet and got what I needed to get done. The included software is a basic version without the advanced features. So if you want to play movies with it, you will have to use a separate video playing software. This is a very good purchase made from Best Buy

This is a very good DVD drive especially for this price. I bought it for my MacBook Pro which doesn’t hade a drive and it’s so much cheaper than the Apple version
