    Newer lap tops are not with CD players installed. The need for an external CD player is therefore a must. This unit works well, but is cumbersome with all the added features that they throw at you. All I want to do is record / rip or play. All the rest is superfluous.

    This drive works great! Plug and play! Only issue I can foresee is for anyone using it often portably, the plug on the device starts to feel loose after a short while. Time will tell if it fails or not.
