My previous HP had the CD player built in so I definitely had missed that. I have so many CDS of photos and with the crash of my previous computer I had lost access to those.

Needs Wifi for Initial Setup

My laptop doesn't have a DVD slot and I couldn't find my other external DVD player. After plugging it into my laptop it prompted me to download several things, which I did. Then it required a large update, which required wifi. I was unable to watch DVD's on my camping trip and returned the devise on my way home.

Works great on newer CDs, but not so good with older ones (comes up often with errors, unable to recognize album/artist/song names, can't read CD).

But, for the price it was about right. I've bought quality name brand high dollar drives in the past, still have 2 of them, but they don't work with Window's 10, and I'm sure Windows 11 or 12 will require a new one, again !
