We have it for a family Laptop that does not have a DVD/CD drive. Good as well for the other devices to make a stable storage of home video's pictures etc.... And we also use it to play movies on when needed

I am using this devise since my computer doesn't have a internal DVD. I am downloading my CD's to put onto a USB flash drive since new cars are not coming with a DVD player. The drawer feels very flimsy and I worried about breaking the drawer. When snapping in and remove the DVD one has to be careful with the drawer

I saw this on sale for $20, and realized that they aren't making new laptops with optical drives, and I have a lot of physical media, so this is a necessity. It does the job. My only complaint is that the media suite it comes with has a player that doesn't seem to do anything. After 15 minutes of trying to get it to work, I just opened VLC Media Player, and my dvd ran. So A+ for being affordable and funcional, but C- for ease of use.

Works perfectly. As most PC’s no longer come with CD drives, this is a must have for those of us that still have software on disc. I haven’t burned with it yet, but reading is whisper quiet. Great product!

This new computer, like many new ones, has no disc drive. I had a disc version of my tax software and was not going to be able to load it without a drive. This drive filled the bill. Software was loaded without problems.

Since my laptop came without a DVD or CD player I bought this item to be able to download music.

This CD Rom can be used for CD's with different data storage needs and be placed in a locked storage box away from small inquisitive hands when not in use. Great tool for maintaining great memory data storage.

Works but only opens about 3/4 of the way when you press the button. Then you have to extended it the rest of the way. If you care about price most then buy if it’s cheapest

I tried to install my paid for security software, but the OEM installed McAfee would not delete entirely despite repeated attempts. The McAfee Live Safe product will not delete despite repeated attempts following both McAfee or my Trend Micro program instructions. I can not load my security software.

Looks and works great will consider getting another

New laptop models usually don’t have an optical drive so I think everyone needs one of these.

this is a nice external drive to go with her laptop which has no disk drives but I wish it had come with a player that actually helped her play dvd's, the one it came was more for burning discs so be prepared to download a dvd player such as VLC

Works as advertised, plug and play no issues. If you need to install from cd or watch dvd very good product.

My computer was a Christmas gift, and it came without a CD drive, so I had to purchase the CD dive sperate, in which I did not care for. I prefer the CD drive been built in

This was a life saver for me because when I got my new laptop that didn't have a CD drive, I realized my Adobe Lightroom would need to be installed and I only had it on CD so this device allowed me to still connect and install my Lightroom software.

Keyboard at some angle are unreadable. But by putting a small light over the Keyboard it laminates otherwise to this point its just fine.

Cheap, no software without going online to get apps.

The disk does not completely open for easy removal. It’s small configuration permits it to move around the desk. Duck tape works great.
