I just learned no dvd or CD player in my new laptop so I got it just in time. I bought it for my old one that was not working and it was old but with new laptop. Nothing so good thing I have it in hsndy

Needed to run standardized tests that were in cd format on my work laptop which travels to various locations. This is a durable device which keeps the integrity of running the cds intact.

I had really needed a disk drive for forever but didn't really feel like installing one so this was a great alternative the only problem I have is with the length of the cable that came with it.

Perfect for finally ripping all my old CDs and DVDs. I've been without an optical drive on any of my computers for years.

Most laptops no longer come with a cd/dvd drive and unfortunately, I still had old software on discs so an external drive was a must. The drive is very flimsy and I always feel like I'm going to break it everytime I use it, but after a few years of use, it still works.

It works well although it's a bit slow, most likely because it's a usb connection vs internal drive. A great deal of new computers don't come with an optical drive so this was a good choice

Geek Squad did an outstanding job rebuilding my Dell laptop. The only thing lacking was an internal drive, which died a long time ago. Now I have a new drive and the system is just like new. Thank you so much.

Burned a lot of CD-Rs - works reliably. Very good burn speed, kind of noisy (as expected)

The CD/DVD driver works as it should and displays movies with good definition.

New computer did not have one needed it to play some disk copy protected games I still have. It is much slooower than any internaI IDE cd drive I ever had. USB 2.0 one would think it should read faster. Have not tried to burn any cds yet, did not get it for that.

This drive is very light and the USB Cable is also very short, making it easy to fall off the top of a desk top. If you are using it as a burner for your desktop, recommend looking for a longer cable.

Great product, because most laptops no longer have a CD drive, including mine!! I'm very happy that this device will allow me to continue to access photos that i have stored in CD's.

Worked great for 5 months then it stopped working. LG was so easy to work with. I did an online chat where they had me try a couple of things. When those did not work they replaced it. I understand that sometimes things just happen and appreciate the company taking are of it, hassle-free!

Most current computers now do not have DVD+RW/CD drivers. LG-8xExternal US Double Layer DVD+RW/CD drive offers an answer for that question.

My HP TouchSmart doesn't have DVD/CD. Since my new computer does have a number of quick USB, I expect this unit to provide good service.

Found several CDs that had faded writing and no reader. This one is the right price and works well, even on 2 that had bad scratching on the surface. I have gotten lost pictures and even a letter written to my mother just before she died. A good buy,
