It turns out the software was the problem. I went with a different software now I have two great drives.

I bought it so I could play Blue Ray movies on my laptop and it does that, although I do need to use software such as AnyDVD to deal with getting many disks to play. Not exactly a bargain price though.

However, it is MUCH slower than the built-in on my old laptop (very noticeable when popping in a disk loaded with pictures to view).
