Just plug and play. The external player works great. It does have a software suite on DVD but I was unable to get it to install on my MacBook. It did install on my Windows desktop. The software suite does just enough to entice people to pay to upgrade it. I just uninstalled it. The DVD player does everything I need it to do without the included software suite that you will need to upgrade for many things you may wish to do.

Works good. Very fast. This is well worth $20.00. Plug and play easy to use.

Very easy to hook up and use right out of the box. You just have to be very careful because the front will come off easily.

I used this on Ubuntu and Windows 10 to review a series of old CD-ROMs with archival data on them. Had no issues with speed or compatibility. Did not attempt to write data or use the DVD functions.

Excellent device to burn disks, transfer music from disk to home server

Bought this for my gaming computer, which didn't have a DVD/cd drive. sits on top of my computer. I put a strip of velcro on the bottom to keep it in place. grerat unit for the price works great.

Works great for medical disc readings! Our other one stopped working and this one works way better

defective software came with the device but BB geek squad got the drive working anyway.

At first I had trouble getting to work. Now I believe the problem was I had not properly seated the disk before closing the drawer. Because of the size, I find to very helpful to have the drive on a solid, flat surface so the open drawer is supported when inserting or removing a disk. (Older drives where much bigger and had a more rigid drawer that did not need any support.)

Is a read and right to me no different than the $50 something one. Making backups and there when I need it.

Replaced non-working OEM DVD with this external LG DVD. Quiet and meets my expectations. Great value.

I bought this as a simple external drive to use it to repair windows 10 issue with a recovery disk, it worked easily and effectively. I think it was worth the money
