Got one replaced via manufacture warranty which makes 3 of them. They quit reading CD's well and just flat out quit working right. Warranty on product is a hassle. One of them I dropped, my fault, and it bent the special power cord and when the cord breaks, the whole thing has to be replaced which I did with another brand.

If a portable optical drive stops reading discs or powering correctly, check the USB power source and cable connection. These drives need stable USB power; insufficient current or a damaged cable can cause issues. Trying a different USB port or a powered USB hub may help.
Damage to the specialized power/data cable can also hinder functionality. Since it's model-specific, a bent or broken plug might necessitate replacing the entire drive. To extend the lifespan of optical drives:
Use full-size, unlabelled, and unwrapped discs to prevent motor strain.
Avoid moving the drive during use, as portable units are sensitive to vibration.
