It works, but can be quite picky about what CDs it will read. If the disk isn't in good shape, there is a high probability this drive will have problems reading the data. I have only used for music CDs, so can't speak for any other media. I have tested same CD's in other drives, and they read fine. If you need to read worn CD's buy something else.
