I asked the BB employee if it did this and was told yes, but when I tried to do so at home, a notice informs me that I must upgrade for almost $40.

Not so. I had a hard time trying to figure it out. I called Geek Squad. They told me all I had to do is download software from the playstore. When I tried it they wanted me to pay for it. I called the company and they said I needed software, but they gave me a link to free software. I told them they should put that info on the box. Finally it worked after alot of inconvenience.
