This was basic plug and play.....no frills kind of thing, but not very expensive and plenty of programs out there to choose from. I use with Windows Media player to rip.

We have a Mac and it is a pain to get it to read the device. There have been times that we could not eject the dvd. I am not very "computer literate", so it could be "user" problems.
