Its a good disc reader, i got it to reinstall windows on my PC. 40$ is a bit too much for a simple reader, it doesn’t even read blu rays. I was in a pinch and needed it. Would recommend getting something cheaper.

I purchased this to go with the computer I had to get instead of the one I needed. The computer I got is a gaming computer. Not being familiar with the machine type, I foolishly bought it and it didn't have a disc drive in it, so I had to buy this one. It will not separate discs when I download them into the computer. If it's a 2 disc set, for example, it won't download each disc separately. It puts the cuts all together as one download. Not cool. I'm going to end up taking this back to see if the Geeks can line it out.

I'm not someone that knows electronics so trying to use this for the first time and after is still a little hard. Maybe it's me but for a small device it sure can get you mad when your as old as I am.

This is a functionally acceptable drive, but really not heavy enough for an external drive. I have to set a brick on it to keep it in place when I insert/remove disks.

It works ok but is really finicky with downloading cds. Perhaps there are some drivers that i need to update but its not as simple as plug and play like the advertising suggests.

I was really looking for an external Bluray drive. Unfortunately I did not look closely at the packaging. Its a good drive if your in need of a DVD drive.

The hardware is fine but the software used to run it just stinks. I had to go through LG tech support when I ran into problems. The LG tech person seemed like a very new 20-something who was out of his depth. He finally routed me to tech support for my laptop because he did not know how to handle the problem. Tech support for my laptop (Surface) was great; they took their time to diagnose and eventually solve the problem and get me running.

This came and looked like it was packaged well. I used it for 2 days. It was sitting on my desk and didn't move other than that. I went to take a disc out of it yesterday and it wouldn't open. Today I was looking at it and got it to open but then a couple of pieces fell out and it isn't working properly. I normally have no issues with LG products but this one was not worth my money. Sadly I don't have any of the packaging anymore to return it because it was working and then it stopped.

It has taken me over two weeks to get this external drive operating on my laptop. In the end, I had to get the help of a friend who has lots of experience in this sort of thing. It took him two hours to set it up. It now works well.

This DVD drive was purchased to connect to a simple laptop computer. It has served its purpose so far, but it does seem a little cheaply made. I suppose you get what you pay for. It was cheap after all. So far no problems. Hope it lasts.

I was told by an employee that this was able to read blu-ray but it's too late to return it for an actual one, because this one isn't blu-ray. I'm sure it works fine.

Best Buy recommended this saying that it was easy to use but it wasn't and then it wanted me to subscribe to other monthly costs to use it.

Really only bought to make a backup for Windows 10, since Windows 10 has terrible troubleshooting, and throws you into an impossible recovery loop. It's alright at playing DVDs.

Have had this cd drive for about a month. Its serviceable and ok for the low price, but if you are concerned with speeds more closely associated dial up, pay up for a faster drive

Loud and feels cheap but does its job. Quality could be better.

The lack of instructions didn't explain that one has to manually and carefully snap the disk on and off the hub. The whole sliding tray seems delicate. It's just fine as long as nothing breaks.

Well at first I had to download this DVD and it took awhile, and I am having problems ripping and burning and when I try to put music on my husbands phone but it is still new to me and I am going to keep trying to figure it out,

I wanted an external drive for my Dell laptop. It wasn’t too expensive. It would work with my laptop. I took it into the store and found out it wasn’t compatible. I returned it. I can’t comment on the quality.

It works well until I try and play a movie. The DVD screen states "Not Permitted" and I have yet to figure out why it's not working. Still working on it.
