Fortunately I have a Dell computer and they offer a free download of MediaLink Essentials that has the PowerPlayer in it. Documentation on this unit is virtually non-existent.

Not Compatible with my Asus

I was not able to get it to work properly to view a RedBox DVD. It may have been an error on my part, but perhaps it works best with other laptops.

The DVD drive wobbled so much that it left a circular scratch on the surface of the discs. It can't burn an audio disc without stopping halfway through and saying an error occurred. It's very cheap and flimsy. Now 17 days later, they say I can't return it. You get what you pay for.

Worked Great Until it Broke
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This started out as a great item. It worked well, and then suddenly, my laptop stopped recognizing it. I tried jiggling the connector cord, and that worked pretty well, for a while. However, the socket was loose, and eventually pushed itself all the way into the unit, not making contact with the plug at all. I took it apart and tried to get the socket back to its normal location. I made sure I had it in the correct direction for the contacts,and it tried to come back to life, but the socket would not stay in place. I considered soldering it in place, but the contacts are so tiny that I'm pretty sure solder would just ruin it the rest of the way. If anyone knows of a good substitute for solder that can be used in tiny, almost microscopic applications, please let me know in the comments. Thanks!

I use it to run a mouse/keyboard wireless set. So there is no room for anything else. I do have a plug-in extension, but it has limited bandwidth. The computer was not cheap, but the lack of sufficient inputs makes it no better than a cheap one.

I used it to run the windows 10 disc for install. It works good but some times disc get crooked if you don't snap it down all the way.

I could get sound but not video. Then when the video would work, it wasn't in sync with the audio. It took several tries of stopping, starting, unplugging, and retrying before it would work. I have to go through process anytime I want to watch a DVD. Waste of money.
