Don't cheap out, buy a better drive

It was pretty cheap which isn't usually a good sign for electronics but LG is a reputable name and I trusted the companies quality from owning past electronics. I took a chance and bought the LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD/CD drive in early July and it worked great for the first two weeks. The drive, since August 1st, has failed to read anything and my computer no longer even registers that I've plugged the device in or that there is a disc in the drive. To put it into perspective, my drive unit was manufactured in May of 2020. The parts used to build the unit are brand new or should be as far as we know. There really shouldn't be anything wrong with the unit this early in it's life cycle. Needless to say I've been in contact with customer support who offered to swap out the device for a new unit however I have to pay the shipping costs which I'm not doing. If you need a drive spur the moment never to be used more than maybe 5 times then this is a good drive to get at a great price but if you're looking for a reliable CD drive that delivers long term use then reconsider picking up this device. Don't cheap out when it comes to electronics. Buy a better drive.
