Suddenly stopped reading any disc on any computer, on any OS, with verified good mini USB cable. Drive just spins and spins. No firmware or driver update would've been available anyway. Was very careful with it, never even transported it anywhere, it stayed completely undisturbed plugged in on my desk, for about a year, and now LG won't even own up to their shoddy workmanship. Their customer service has been embarrassing and impossible, and for the cost of their fee for repair service beyond their 1-year warranty (they're demanding proof of purchase) you can order a better one from any other company that'll last you years. I thought they'd be amenable to a $40 drive dying so early but apparently LG isn't the type of company to make things right. When was the last time you old desktop's burner failed you? After maybe 7 years? Don't risk throwing money that you can't get back on this, LG doesn't give a crap whose time and money they waste.

The "free software" that comes you hope will improve things. This s/ware advises the user that Windows 11 can't handle certain MPEG files (e.g. Go Pro) and you will need to buy an upgrade. It also will catalog every pic and vid. There is no select function. I ran an errand and came back and it wasn't even halfway done compiling files. I decided to get the upgrade -- but the price had gone up (and promised to up again two days later). The upgrade didn't load. Sent the company that sold the s/ware an email. Their technical response blamed the manufacturer.
