External Drive comes to the rescue

I purchased the external USB Drive after I had bought my new computer. The technology had changed since I had purchased my last computer and they do not come with CD drives. I purchased the external on the advice of the very knowledgeable staff at the Mentor Best Buy. They assured me that it would work and be easy to connect to my computer. It was very easy and has worked great on my music and Genealogical CDs . I enjoy just being able to plug the drive in and putting a CD in and having results right away. I have recommended this product to friends looking for external drives. I also recommend highly the staff at the Best Buy Mentor ,Ohio as they are great at asking what kinds of ways that you use the products.

Easily replaces my broken disc drive.

My disc drive broke in my really old laptop. I didn't know how to replace it and my warranty expired years ago. This little gem is perfect. The only thing is I had to get a separate pouch to carry it in since it didn't have one in the box. Other than using up a port, works great for everything I need. I recommend this if you need a quick, easy fix for a broken disc drive.

I recently bought a bare bones computer that came with a read only drive. I found this LG drive on best buy's web site and said it looks cheap but I am retired and on a budget so I will give it a try. This thing is not cheap! And for only $40.00? Really? I have other drives that i could have installed but that would require me to open up the computer case and move things around. This is a USB drive so a very simple installation. The performance is very good. It reads and writes well. All in all I can't find anything on the web that comes anywhere near the quality for the price.

This is a simple, durable, and reliable device. Second time buying this, only because I lost the first one in a fire. Burns fast, reliable CD's DVD's. Light weight, plug and play, easy to transport.

I found some old CD's that I wanted to digitize and share with friends but no ones computer has a optic drive anymore! this unit came in super handy! it runs fast and very quiet and I am really happy with the results. I got it on sale and the price was great too. It was just plug and play, I dont think it even needed to install any drivers, just showed up as another drive and worked flawlessly without hassle right out of the box. Thanks!

Plug and play. Pretty self explanatory. USB cable included to plug into computer. I have a Mac and my computer recognized device instantly. Plays DVD, CD, even reads my Action Replay software CD. Give it a try and see if this solves your projects and desires.

This is one of those things you have to be over a certain age to find useful. As I came of age in the time when dinosaurs still walked the earth and CDs were starting to replace cassettes, I am very comfortable with CDs as my preferred platform to play music, and generally rip new CDs to computer and burn a copy for playing in the car so as not to damage the original. I know newer tech is more efficient, but CDs can't be canceled and your account deleted for your political or antisocial views. Anyway, as I had just purchased a new computer because of forced obsolescence due to no more support for Microsoft's terrible product, the new computer did not have a CD player, which is why I bought this product. I have not had any issues and it works as intended. If anything it feels a little on the fragile side, but other than that I have no complaints with it.

Plays and writes DVDs with no problem. Had to delete and install the op. software 2 times before I had success. However, a power issue might have caused the problem. Instructions to install software are weak -- a lot of knowledge is presumed. Also, I keep getting pestered to buy a software upgrade which I don't appreciate. Does a nice job of managing digital stills, which is a nice surprise. Overall, for the price, I think this drive is good value.

I hate that computers these days don't come with a DVD drive, so it's good that I can just plug one in to usb without hassle. Very slim and easy to put away when not in use. Quiet and writes fast. Plays video smooth.

Light weight, compact, very gast, fairly quiet. I like that there is no need for a power chord. Powered via the usb connection. No real set up needed. Just plug it in and start using.

Easy to set up and use! Great quality for the price. I was initially disappointed that my new laptop had no dvd drive, but, for the amount I need one this is even better! Compact, great purchase!

I purchased this unit because I needed to pull some photos from an older CD for work. All of our laptops and surface tablets do not have CD drives, and the desktop PCs in the office are managed by GPO and cannot use the disc drive. I plugged this in to my surface and it was good to go right out of the box. Quickly copied 580 photos to my device and was very quiet the entire time. It's super low profile so I just tossed it in my laptop bag in case I ever need it again!

    When Form Overtakes Function...

My old laptop has all the old peripherals--DVD read and write, VGA monitor output, HDMI, USBs, and of course Ethernet--what it cannot do at its age is upgrade to Windows 10 or 11. It is nice to have everything in one package when I take it (or rather took it) on the road. With the "new and improved" sleek thin line laptops, it is all gone. I cannot even get a combo of hard drives like I would want because SSD is the new Ahhhh. That is great if you do not work in media and need a 1 T or more for storage alone. So, new sleek laptop: now add a USB/VGA hub for more outlets. Add an external hard drive for data, and add this nice portable DVD/CD drive. The area around my laptop now looks like a tech store display--but look how thin my laptop is... All sarcasm aside, this has been a lifesaver. Plug and play, already had VLC Media Player which works great with it. Now if I am in an archive or library and the media I need is on a disc, no problem. I even got it its own padded case to go inside the brief case. When form overtakes function, practical solutions like this are what you need.

I purchased this DVD drive for my laptop that didn't have any DVD drive included with it. I like to be able to watch Netflix DVD's on my laptop. This drive works perfect without any problem. Simply plug it into your USB slot and your OS should identify the drive right away. It comes with some DVD viewing software but unfortunately you'll eventually have to pay for the subscription of the DVD software. Hardware wise thought, it works great. You can connect it and disconnect the drive from your laptop often without any problems.
