That's the definition of out of date. You only need out have one because you have some old CDs or DVDs you might need to read. That said, this is a nice piece of equipment at a very reasonable price, especially when on sale. Quality look, slim and works as well as can be hoped for. If you need an external DVD player/burner, this is a great choice.

It’s small enough to put into my backpack when I’m traveling and I can use it on other computer equipment such as servers etc.
