Good replacement on a Laptop.

The CD drive suffered a failure when the ribbon cable hung and tore. It was much cheaper to buy this LG Drive than to get an OEM replacement. The drive itself is of excellent build quality and works well for CD Ripping. Overall I'd recommend this as an inexpensive alternative for anyone needing to replace a failed laptop drive.

Had to uninstall cyberlink software

To listen to cd have to use windows 10 mediaplayer, to watch dvd, had to download free dvd veiwer software from the internet. To burn cd and dvd data, can use the existing win 10 pro version that comes with the operating system. This was quite a learning curve. The win 10 burning software is hidden, but once you know it exists, it is similar to that of win 7. The alternative instructions should be included and the cyberlink software ditched. Time will tell how durable the optical drive is. The main reason for buying this external drive is that new computer does not have an internal optical drive and want to be able to view old and burn new data and download software from optical disk. Cannot recommend this product without including new alternative instructions mentioned to get full use of product.
