But I wouldn't advise being so gracious. There are numerous issues with this soundbar. A quick Google search will show many complaints of wireless interference between the soundbar and subwoofer if you have any other wireless device near either piece. I didn't have much of a problem with this since I had been planning rewiring my home network anyway. I purchased my initial SL8YG as an "Open Box - Excellent" no surprise that I had to return it within a week because the subwoofer started have distortion problems; my guess is the built-in amp was on the way out. This was exchanged, luckily, for the same model new-in-box. The new device worked amazing for about three weeks until the soundbar quit recognizing the HDMI-ARC signal from my LG C9, the one TV it should absolutely be compatible with. A call to LG customer service deemed the soundbar defective; this time around exchanged for an equivalent Sony.

And not the sound bar loses connection as well. The subwoofer has turned on and off since purchase date, but now the sound bar itself is doing this and I can’t recommend it. I figured I’d wait for a software update and none have come.

We've had this sound bar for only a few months, but should have returned it first sign of troubles. About 3 weeks of having this soundbar we started getting a VERY loud popping noise. All we could do was unplug it to make it stop. It took another week for it to happen again, and at this point I called LG support. I was recommended to put in PCM mode, and we also got a better HDMI cable. The popping noise did not come back in PCM mode, but I started to notice the audio kept going flat, so I went back to auto, then the popping noise came back about a week later, and still the audio goes flat. Now we are past the return date, and have to figure out if we can get repaired. We thought we were buying a great soundbar, but has been plagued with issues that I now see others are having.

Probably should have returned it the day I bought it . Dolby Atmos via Netflix drops enough to hear it. And no I don’t have that issue with my New Sonos Arc. Lately it has started to wipe out my WiFi going form 235 down to 2 . Either on 2.4ghz or 5.8ghz. The problem seems to be with the WiFi connection with the sub. The WiFi with the rear speaker no issues. Disconnecting the antenna I the sound bar for the sub solved the issue. However without the sub there is NO usable bass with the sound bar itself. The Atmos sort of worked . I have a great rectangular room . Until I switched to my recently purchased Sonos arc I did not realize how poor this bar is. It’s going to the garage . I’ll deal with the WiFi headache out there.

LG is investing a lot into the Thinq ecosystem and it sucks. I would stay way from LG tell they get this fixed! some context.. LG Thinq and other LG devices uses open source licensing for their software( it cost less) but they don't have the development to make the "ecosystem" to work correctly and the things that do work together is only for a few devices. when you use LG do your research and your do diligences. even though it say LG Thinq it doesn't mean it will work together. they try to pigeon hole you into the LG ecosystem but they cant even do that right. smh... i would give this 3 star but no one reads those reviews and you should know that LG does this.

Device update bricked it's google assistant and BT

Sometime last year, the soundbar stopped communicating with any of its advanced features or with the apps. I think this was after it tried to update something. It still worked as a sound bar but the google assistant, bluetooth, powering off, didn't work. Unfortunately I left it to late 13 months to call warranty support. It's been out for most of the time I owned it. I finally called today. They were trying to get it serviced anyway, but apparently they aren't allowed to do this. I think this is a really poor design where one of their updates can basically brick the device and not leave you any way to reset it back to a factory default. Very disappointing LG.

Returned this soundbar system after about 2 weeks

Even though the ThinQ 3.1.2 system sounded good initially, it went downhill quickly from there. The soundbar and/or sub popped loudly and intermittently, but LG and BestBuy were unable to give an answer as to what might've caused it. Per BestBuy, I returned for a replacement. Again, relatively good sound from the replacement, although the sweet spot for sound was small and not ideal for the room. After a few days, the system suddenly lost connection to Wi-Fi and I was never able to re-connect, regardless of what I tried. So, once again, I boxed it up and returned the system to Best Buy without any trouble from Best Buy (thumbs up to BB). Replaced with Samsung HW-Q70R.

I bought this soundbar to go with LG OLED 65" C9PUA TV. The first soundbar was returned because it was cutting out and when it wasn't cutting out, it was making a popping noise. I returned it to Best Buy for another model. This one is now cutting out. I called Geek Squad. They had me reset the soundbar. It worked for a day, and now is cutting out again. When I bought the TV and soundbar, the salesperson recommended the AudioQuest ultra HD cable, which I purchased. The Geek Squad recommended hard wiring the soundbar, which would defeat the purpose of the expensive Audio Quest cable and would not have the sound quality. Very frustrated!
