Beautiful fridge that also works great

I purchased this as part of an LG suite of kitchen appliances. The Black Stainless finish is as beautiful installed as it was on display in the showroom. I'd never had a french door fridge before, so it took a little getting used to on how to situate everything inside. After some trial and error, I think there is plenty of space. Shelves are easily adjustable as well and everything is brightly illuminated with LED lighting. Further, I really like the door-in-door feature. I wondered if it was gimicky and if I would really use it but I am honestly using it all the time. Beverages are the logical choice to put within the door-in-door, as are condiments. The small shelves on the door of the left side of the fridge are, however, a bit narrow so as of yet, I haven't had much to place in them. The middle drawer has several temperature settings depending on what you place in there. Right now I'm using it for drinks, i.e. cans of soda and bottles of wine. There is a lot of space in this drawer, much more than I expected. I placed a 24 pack of soda in there easily, as well as couple bottles of wine and I still have room to spare. There is also a divider to help you separate items. This drawer is also lit with LED lights. The bottom freezer is huge with two slide our drawers. I would be hard pressed to completely fill it up. As with the rest of the fridge, this space is lit with LEDs. The icemaker is part of the door on the left side of the fridge. It fits in to a narrow space so if you consume a lot of ice, prepare to make trays manually in the freezer or buy a bag from time to time. I don't use ice too often so it's fine for me. When the fridge is first installed, the owner's manual does indicate that it may take at least 24 hours before the proper temperature is reached and ice starts getting produced. This is totally accurate, so don't freak out if after several hours of the fridge being plugged in, you still don't have ice. The ice/water dispenser and control panel are on the front of the left door. Everything looks nice but if you're shopping around, here are a couple of features that the LG model lacks. There is no space to rest a glass/cup/dish that you are filling with water. You have to hold it up against the fridge and depress the water dispenser lever. The same holds true for ice, and you have to hold the glass very close to the ice dispenser, or else ice pops out the side and goes all over the kitchen floor. There is also no auto-fill feature for the water. Several other manufacturers including GE, Whirlpool, and Kitchenaid have a clever feature that allows you to pre-select exactly how much water you want in cups or liters, then place the glass under the dispenser and it will autmatically fill with the exact amount you selected. Not so LG. The display panel will not tell you the actual temperature of the fridge or freezer, just the temperature that you have set. The dispenser light has two settings, on or off. There is no night light setting. Aside from those few shortfalls, this is otherwise a great machine. The fridge keeps everything very cold, the middle drawer is a great feature that is unexpectedly spacious, and the freezer drawer is huge and keeps items frozen solid.

This was my birthday present from my husband! Products it's self is great! my 9 years old and 7 years old boys love to open "door within door" , and easy access to middle drawer for their drinks. Issue for the Best Buy service were: 1. Delivery 2 hours window - I waited 10:30-12:30 windows, I received a call from Best buy they will be at my house 12PM... then, they showed up at 2PM!!!! without any apology. They took time to install, so, I ended up paying my boys school total $50 for after care service.... (late pick up penalty.) 2. Chips on middle drawer - I found 3 small chips on inside of middle drawer.... I called the local Best Buy and their response was; it will be easier to not bother any paper work, they are happy to exchange the middle drawer to their display refrigerator ones. This fridge is my very special present, and now, I feel like receiving second hand... instead... Product Is great! but, Best Buy service is not......

I purchased this refrigerator from Best Buy Pacific Home and Kitchenfor $2699. Later I saw this at Fry's Electronics for $2199. I have had this now for over a week and am truly delighted. I had a 25cu ft Samsung stainless side by side refrigerator. Pros -Spacious, the indoor icemaker provides more usuable room inside -Organization is excellent with the door in door, put your most used items like milk, juice, peanut butter, jam, ketchup, mustard in there -Grab and go drawer is excellent for yogurts, cheese, butter, salad, etc and its programmable -Lighting, nice and bright and you can easily find everything -Water filter in door, leaves more space in refrigerator unlike old Samsung -Relatively quiet, ice dropping is not as loud and compressor is not loud like Samsung -Drawer and freezer drawer glide close themselves -Door alarm sounds cool -No problems with ice coming out, water spout is nice and high so no crouching -Freezer has two trays to organize veggies, ice packs, large items, easy to find food, no pulling multiple trays out and have food fall through Cons -Ice production is only 3.5lbs, so if your having a party you will need to use ice cube trays or go buy a bag od ice or use your old refrigerator in garage -No magnet will stick to door front, so no whiteboard or calendar going on the face of the doors, could go on side only -Will show water splashes or fingerprints easily, so you will wipe down more often likely than you would like Summary, I am delighted with this refrigerator the pros over the side by side are great (organizational abilities, spacious, lighting, quiet, ice maker always dispenses unlike waiting for Samsung to drop a cube, no crouching for water, it has a light too. I love this LG LMXS30776S refrigerator at near 30cu ft, french door, with door in door and grab and go drawer. Freezer also has two shelves and two large buckets, if you put some thought into your food organization, you can find it very quickly. 5 stars, LG got this design right with 4 doors. Just wish ice maker was bigger, but can live with it with Ice Plus feature turned on.

I got an open box deal around $1400, added another 3 years Geek Squad warranty since I heard many horror stories about LG compressor. The fridge is huge and I had to remove the doors in able to bring it to my house. It has been working great since early May. It's quiet when comparing to my Frigidaire side by side and it has a lot of storage space for a family of 6. My kids love the door in door since they can grab the milk, drink without opening the main door. I love the custom chill drawer because I like to drink cold sodas.

Absolutely love this fridge! It’s huge and holds a ton. We bought it in 2019 and I’m writing this review 2023. The fridge has so many great features. The deli drawer is awesome, the ice maker works superb and the freezer also holds a ton of food. The only issue we have had is the compressor just went out on us. It started loosing its cooling power on Sunday. Monday morning I went online and found the LG warranty number and gave them a call. They put in a service order for today (Wednesday). The tech came and said they are finding the 2019/2020 version of this model is having compressor issues. He was here about 2 hours and installed a brand new one and we’re good to go. Ideally you never want issues (obviously) but the fact it was so easy to get an appointment, parts sent and a tech to fix the problem has me very happy I went with LG.

We've had this fridge for just over a year now. LOVE IT! LOVE the space on the inside, love the shelving options and love the drawer between the fridge and freeze. We use that drawer for snacks and drinks, which is super awesome. You can change that drawer to be either a fridge or an additional freezer area. We also love the additional drawers / slide out in the freezer, perfect for frozen fruits and pizzas. I love this fridge! My only complaint would be the ice maker as it's super small. It's just the two of us in the house and we run out of ice often. That's the only complaint we have, but we make do by keeping a small bag of ice in the freezer. GREAT PRODUCT! I also have the matching steam dishwasher -- which I HATE - and the built-in microwave - which I LOVE!

Bought this after six months of comparing features and reviews. Went to store and after checking out the inventory, decided this was the one for us. Great storage, lots of space for everything. Love the door in door feature to quickly grab items we use continually with out having to open the main doors. The stainless is very easy to leave finger prints and scuffs, but since we don't have kids at home anymore, no too much of a problem. This fridge is very tall (69.3") at the middle top. Had to sand top cabinet about 3/16th to get it to fit, but otherwise no issues. Great install by Best Buy and old fridge was removed same day. My wife loves this fridge and recommends that you should check it out before purchasing you next model.

My husband and I went in to Best Buy thinking we were going to purchase a Samsung but then we decided on this LG refrigerator, I was attracted and liked the center drawer feature . After talking with the salesperson Adam Piccoli who knew a lot about refrigerators I decided on this one. Now that I have it at home I absolutely love it! I love all the settings and the beauty of its appearance I was a little concerned about the small Ice cubes, but to my surprise they last a very long time and actually like them better. The center drawer is a MUST in my opinion and the easy grab bins are really nice. I use them for cheese sticks and extra little packets you get from fast food places (ie: soy sauce and hot sauces). The door n door feature is really nice as well. My milk stays nice and cold without any concerns. Overall I think this Refrigerator rates a 10+. The sales guy to the delivery was very professional, thank you Best buy for having a nice display of refrigerators to choose from, I picked a good one!. Hope my review helps you in picking your new refrigerator, if you choose this one you won't be disappointed.

Purchased the 30 Cu ft top of the line 4 door LG fridge from BBY about 2 years ago. For the first two years the more we used the fridge the more we LOVED it! The “drink drawer” is WAY cooler than we thought it would be getting drinks to the perfectly cold temperature and the quick access door is awesome for milk & OJ. We have 5 kids and this fridge holds plenty and with the water & ice dispenser on front was excellent. Only problems we had had for first 2 years were replacing filters, ice maker got jammed once or twice, & every now and then I’d remove a small amount of ice build up near the inside of the door on the ice maker side where cold air travel from main fridge to the ice maker. None of these were “issues” and if you would have asked me 3 weeks ago I would have said it is the BEST fridge! Then out of nowhere it just stopped working. For me a fridge that is only 2 years old is still “new!” In fact it was only 2 months ago that we removed the “protective” wrapping the fridge shipped in and we have kept it in excellent condition. When I say the fridge stopped working all of the light turn on, the water technically works, but the fridge stopped cooling (in any of the four doors). I appreciate things can stop working, but have to say I was very disappointed only two years into a ~$4K fridge (adding taxes). When I got the fridge I was told how great LG warranty was so I called LG. Was on hold for a while and then here is what happened over the next 2 weeks (Days are counted in business days & don’t include weekends): Day 0 – Fridge stopped working – Called LG customer support: Very hard to understand support agent, but she was patient with me so I was patient with her. Gave me service request & told me LG would take care of the service (parts & labor) at no charge! Off to a good start! Gave me a telephone number of “service agent” and told me they’d get in touch with me within 24 hours to schedule service. Day 2 – No phone call from service agent  (I waited over 24 hours) Day 3 – Called service agent. They had no idea who I was and at first couldn’t find the request from LG. After much back and forth (and providing the LG provide service request # multiple times) they finally found the request and told me that I lived outside of their service area & told me they rejected the service request from LG. They asked me to contact LG. Thought, that’s unfortunate, but maybe not LG’s fault. So I called LG, they told me the service center had “accepted” the request and that they’d follow back up with them. I told them 5 times that I had JUST gotten off the phone with them and that there was NO WAY they were coming to my house. I even asked if we could 3-way call them, but LG wanted to call them separately. I asked if I could call them back in 2 hours, but they said they need 24 hours and they promised they’d call me within 24 hours. Day 4 – No phone call from LG. Day 5 - After waiting over 24 hours I phoned them. They told me that “yes” that service center would not be able to support the service request, they “escalated” the service request to manager & told me they were working to locate another service center. They said they had located one, but it would take 5 business days for them to get back to me. I complained that they should have listened to me the first time, was a little frustrated, but they committed they had escalated this. Support agent apologized profusely that the “previous agent” hadn’t called me & that he would do a better job. Day 8 – So I didn’t wait the 5 business days, but thought I’d call in to make sure everything was progressing. Good thing I did. Remember this is the 4th time I’ve had to phone LG! After giving details to support agent he looked up the request and told me that the 2nd service agent had also rejected the service request! You need to remember it is 8 business days, but with weekends it is basically 2 weeks without a fridge. I have 5 kids and have to eat microwaveable, or things that don’t need refrigerated OR eat out. Much more expensive, let alone less healthy. I tried to be polite & explained all of these points to support. I also explained that days keep going by because LG isn’t effectively managing the requests to service agents. I even asked if I could have a list & I’d call them myself till I find one OR if I could help them locate one closer to my home, but that was against policy. When support realized I was getting pretty frustrated he put me on hold, returned & told me they were escalating this to a “fridge specialist” (I have no idea who they were making service request to the first two times). They promise that this will work and that they will be able to come to my home and help me. BUT the soonest they will respond is 5 business days! I ask if that means they’ll come to my home within 5 business days OR if 5 business days to call and schedule. Of course it is the later meaning it will likely be 18+ business days before they come and fix my 2 YEAR OLD FRIDGE that cost me over $4k with taxes. I expressed how frustrating that was and was told “we are doing our best,” and “I’m sorry others didn’t handle effectively, but it was other support personal and now I will make sure to solve.” We’ll see if the last point holds true, but seems like they are trained to say this as two different support personal have said it & honestly more frustrating than helpful and it makes me feel I need to call the “right” person in support to get help. If that is the best LG can do, then it isn’t worthy of such an expensive product. Will update once I hear more, but IMO even such a GREAT product as this fridge should last more than 2 years and if it is going to completely break, LG MUST have better customer service. Based on that “reliability” & “service” giving 1 star. Would have been 4+ stars if fridge was either more reliable OR better service. As is I would definitely not buy from LG again and would not recommend. Will update if LG is able to adequately rectify situation.

I'm sure the other reviewers received a working product. I did too, for the first few days. However, I had to have a service guy come out within the first week the fridge was delivered because the CustomChill door temperature selector buttons stopped working and the freezer drawer light doesn't work. The issue appears to be with the electronics or wiring. The technician has been out 3 times, and the problem still isn't fixed. To note, it's been a month and a half since the first visit. He has to contact LG directly while here because they haven't released the specs to technicians. After 2 part swaps, the issue remains. He said I should be getting a call from LG soon. I hope it's to replace the fridge. We bought the fridge to replace a 14 year old 26cu ft KitchenAid side-by-side because we wanted something more energy efficient. I was hesitant because the new models (from any manufacturer) have a lot of plastic pieces and metal-on-plastic pieces. This means those parts will wear out quicker and you (the consumer) will have to pay to fix them or buy a new fridge. Since it was on all similar models, we decided to go with LG because of overall reviews. The compressor probably will last since it's mechanical and LG puts a long warranty on it. We were a little disappointed with all the plastic because of the high price. The door-in-door is nice, but you have to really push on it to get it to stay closed instead of just swinging it closed. As annoying as it is, keep the door alarm activated. This has saved us from leaving the door-in-door open because it didn't close. Plan on two hand use for the ice and water dispensers. The water dispenser symbol will inevitably get scratched off soon because it's only painted on instead of etched in. The paint on ours already has some chips on it - again, cost savings for LG. The ice machine is small, and cubes have a tendency to build up in front of the sensor. This causes the machine to stop making ice because it senses the bucket is full, but it is not. This happens 2-3 times a week and always on the side closest to the door hinges. I recommend checking it often and knocking the ice down. The ice machine makes the left door stick out farther, so be sure to have plenty of room to open it fully. Otherwise, you can't reach in to grab items in the back of the fridge. Inside the fridge, there's plenty of room, and the space is configurable. The shelves are sturdy and can handle heavy items without flexing. The fridge compartment is also deep. My wife is 5'3" and can't reach to the back of the top shelves. I can't comment on the CustomChill drawer because we can't change the temperature, and we have no idea what the temperature is because the lights don't work. The sliding dividers are a nice option though to keep meats and other products separated. The freezer has 2 other drawers in there. However, this results in only a 10-inch clearance in the main compartment. I can't stand bottles up because of this. We spend a lot more time digging around for things too because the main compartment is deep and extend underneath the other drawers. Also, there is nothing filtering out the moisture in the air. Everything has ice crystals on the outside. The enormous size of the fridge presented problems when the delivery guys were trying to get it into my house. They had to pull out the drawers and take off the front door handles. Then, they had to open the doors and pivot the fridge through 34" wide doorway openings. Something to remember if you ever plan on getting it OUT of your house. Overall, we still have mix feelings about the fridge since we haven't noticed any decrease in this month's electric bill. The broken CustomChill drawer also colors our opinion of the fridge. Couple that with the liberal use of plastic-on-plastic and plastic-on-metal parts, and it's only a matter of time before new parts are needed (or a new fridge). The cost of the fridge is too much for this fact. However, I do want to reiterate again, that all the other fridges from other manufacturers did the exact same thing. Hopefully, this review provides some insight for those searching for a new fridge. If you want this one, then buy it on sale.

This fridge has lots of space, however it's not laid out in a way where it can be best utilized. Ice maker doesn't work well at all and we have to constantly clear out the chute where it gets jammed up. The compressor is already starting to make a loud noise when it runs. Very disappointed on how this is performing for it being in such a high price range.

Linear Compressor - Dies after 2 years

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The fridge is beautiful and worked great for 2 years and 3 months. Then the linear compressor died and while the part is under warranty, the labor isn't. In my area is was $740 to get it fixed. It took 2 weeks to find a service team that would work on a fridge where the compressor is under warranty but not the labor. They're so backed up. I had to find someone 40 miles away. The repair guy who came out said he's done 5 this week and had another one to go to after me. He did a great job quickly and charged $740 for the repair. I lost a ton of good food because of the failure and then had to pay $740 to get it fixed. I'm out over $1,000 not including my time on hold trying to find a service company. If this compressor fails every 2 years then I'm going to spend the equivalent of a brand new fridge every 6 years. What a headache. Do your research but realize that the LG Linear Compressor has a HIGH failure rate and your fridge will die at some point. Make sure you always turn off and empty your ice maker before you leave for any extended period so you won't have a pool of water when you get back. Even though the warranty is better now than it was when I bought the refrigerator (which totally stinks for people like me who bought it too early for the new warranty) you're still going to have a dead refrigerator at some point and all your food will be spoiled. Then you'll be waiting 2+ weeks to get it repaired.

The L in LG is for LEMON!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After just having bought my first home, I really wanted to splurge and buy a nice big beautiful stainless steel refrigerator as a center piece. But buying this expensive LG was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. At just 2 years the thing is broken and will no longer cool. I came home one night to find that all of the the ice in the ice maker had melted and puddled onto my hardwood flooring and all of my food was spoiled. Completely dismayed that my refrigerator is now cooling at 60F I called LG. They sent a tech out and he diagnosed a failed sealed system. To have a failed sealed system in 2 years is truly, truly remarkable. But you then think to yourself, well that's ok though, sealed system is under warranty right? NOPE! The parts might be covered by warranty, but the LABOR is not. And apparently sealed system is a specialty repair service and I was quoted at $850-$1100 on the low end JUST OF LABOR. And then you think to yourself, well Jesus, that's unbelievably expensive, so you call LG and ask them why they are selling $3400 refrigerators that don't even last 2 years? What kind of product quality are they really putting out? And they don't back up their own products? We work hard for that kind of money and consumers deserve quality assurance for their purchase. Agent very reluctantly escalated my case and I was eventually granted an exception to cover labor under warranty as well, but now here's the most interesting part.. I called their authorized service provider to come back out and fix it, now with a warranty exception code but they flat out REFUSED to come back to work on the thing because apparently LG has stiffed them multiple times on warranty repairs. So LG is not only stiffing their costumers with cheap and faulty appliances but they are also stiffing their own authorized service providers on warranty reimbursement to repair their cheap and faulty appliances. But you could figure that would happen if so many of them break right? It's not good business for LG to repair everything they build. So at this point, it has been 1 month since I've had a working refrigerator. There are literally only two service providers in my area that can fix sealed systems and are authorized to work on LG (a huge amount of service providers don't even want to work on LG, so let that be the giant red flag for you.) But of these two service providers, both of them refuse to do any warranty work for LG whatsoever. I guess I wouldn't want to either, if I wasn't getting paid for my work. I have been in contact with LG daily about this, asking to give me a real solution, but they just keep giving me lip service and lists of more and more service providers, all of which are completely out of the state and can't even come here because they are not licensed outside of their own state. I've gone through 20+ service providers that LG has given me and it's the same story over and over.. "we don't service your area, we aren't licensed in your state" etc etc. I tried explaining this to LG repeatedly but they either don't listen or don't care. The last agent I talked to just bluntly told me I'm SOL. So ask yourself this, what good is a warranty if their own company won't back it up? What good is a warranty if no service provider will accept it because LG is scheming them out of their money too? At this point I can either pay $1200+ for parts and labor out of my own pocket or I can just take this thing out to the backyard and blow it up and buy a different brand. And really, in full and total honesty, I'm much more inclined to do the latter. Because I will never trust my food in this thing ever again, even after it was fixed. I will never trust LG again. I'm now just far too ashamed to even have the LG symbol in my household now that I know the truth of this company. Yeah, you're sitting there reading all these reviews because this is a big purchase for you, just like it was for me. And you're thinking to yourself, this poor guy, he just got unlucky that HIS broke so early, but mine won't be like that and even if mine does have a problem, I have this great LG warranty right? You don't. LG is proven to have cheap and faulty products and they have proven that their warranty is completely meaningless. You're better off buying 30 mini refrigerators for the same price and then just replacing them as they break throughout the years... but the truly sad part is.. you won't need that many because one cheap $100 mini fridge will still last significantly longer than any giant shiny piece of junk you buy from LG. Don't say I didn't warn you.

4 Months - Great Cavernous Fridge!

We purchased at Best Buy because of their price match policy and cost of the extended warranty/geek squad coverage relative to other major retailers. Overall a great fridge! After 4 months of use, the fridge is running strong with no major issues. We bought this to replace a 13yr old 26cuft stainless Kenmore side by side. Middle drawer is great for snack access for our three kids. Thru door access is great for milk, creamer other items that we use frequently. My wife swears that veggies seem to stay fresher longer in this fridge. We're still getting use to the Cavernous size of this fridge. I'm finding that we lose track of some items due to the internal depth. Something to keep in mind is that the larger 30cuft size, requires added depth so it sticks out a couple of inches more from the counter than our previous fridge...not a big deal...just something to keep in mind prior to purchasing. The icemaker is sufficient for our limited entertainment purposes. The compressor is quiet. As far as overall noise level, it seems to be just as quiet, if not quieter than our old fridge. I suppose it's all relative to your environment...kids vs. no kids:) There was a plastic taste to the the ice and water that took a couple of months to finally get rid of....hindsight this may have been user error of not completely wiping down with soapy water and removing ALL the plastic protection LG ships the unit with....we still seem to e finding a piece that we missed. The front is not magnetic, which is both good and bad. We can no longer put our kids artwork/pictures on the front of the fridge. This is sad, as it made us realize how many fingerprints we were hiding on our old fridge. It does take more effort to keep clean and fingerprint free, but it's worth the effort and has become more routine over the last 4 months. The stainless handle is definitely more challenging to keep clean compared to the plastic handle on our old fridge. Overall, a great fridge and would recommend if you're looking for a lot of space.

We had an issue with the first fridge delivered(same model) after a few months of use. Their was an issue with the re-circulation fans that LG has now fixed by adding a heater to prevent ice build up. We love this fridge, from the convenience of the front access door on the right door, to the ice maker and filter built into the door, to all of the different sliding drawers in the freezer, to the adjustable shelving, LED lighting, and the middle drawer that can be set to 4 different temp zones. The Good: -Front access door for drinks, butter, condiments, etc. -Middle drawer, Air Filter, LED lighting, -Build quality, finish, looks -Room, adjustable shelves, more room, sliding shelves in freezer -Ice maker and water filter built in door. The Bad: Water dispenser is a little awkward. We don't always buy service plans on our purchases but they have lowered the price recently on there Fridge service plans and it was less than 10% of the purchase price, so we bought it.

Very spacious fridge with adjustable shelves and 2 that slide forward for easy access to items. Lots of storage - first drawer can be used for soda cans, Second drawer has even more space - it includes a slide out drawer and a slide out shelf that's perfect for storing pizzas & ice pops or other frozen treats. Space below the drawers for meats etc.

Great roomy refrigerator. Love the middle drawer and huge freezer drawer. We have had for 6 years and the compressor went out so we are having it serviced. Highly recommend purchasing warrant packages if available.
