Purchased this refrigerator July 2015, It worked well for less than 6 months. First the freezer went out... Dec. 22nd, then Dec. 25th our Ice maker stopped working and finally our refrigerator hasn't been working since December 26th. We first called LG Dec.23rd and did some trouble shooting, with no luck, we called back Dec. 24th and understood that we would not get a repairperson out until after Christmas...that was fine with us... We called again on Dec 25th because the Ice maker had then quit working. And were told we would receive a call Dec. 26th to set up our repair appt. We never got the call. Dec. 27th came and I called frantically because now the whole refrigerator stopped working. I was called back Dec. 28th to confirm an appt. for Dec. 31st, with a 3rd party Sharper Image. This I thought was completely unacceptable since I had been calling since the 23rd, but what choice did I really have. I then called Sharper Image to make sure we are on the schedule today Dec. 30th and they had not received our work order!!!!!! I called LG and they say they sent it via email to Sharper Image, which is not how they usually send work orders. I was upset that they would not go the extra mile and call to confirm the repair service got the order.... the customer service rep then put me on hold to call Sharper Image only to find out that the email address the work order was sent to no longer exists. The customer service gal told me that they don't have availability until Tuesday Jan 5th. This was absolutely not acceptable in any way, so I asked to speak with a Supervisor....after explaining my situation to him of my 4 kids eating out of a cooler in my backyard and all the hundreds of dollars in food I have had to throw out,,,all he said was I am sorry there is nothing else I can do but resubmit the work order. I am absolutely appalled at his response and the lack of customer service I have received. I will never again purchase anything made by LG. The only thing I can say is if you decide to purchase this refrigerator anyway, buy the geek squad protection plan because you are going to need it.

UPDATE-SO AFTER HAVING 2 FAILED COMPRESSORS AND LOSING OVER $600 WORTH OF FOOD THAT WAS SPOILED, I HAVE BEEN JUST TOLD BY A LG REP THAT I AM ALLOWED A ONE TIME REIMBURSEMENT !! YOUR COMPRESSOR FAILED TWICE!! I AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW...LG WILL NOT COMPENSATE CONSUMERS WHEN THEIR PRODUCTS FAIL...DO NOT BUY LG...I AM OUT OVER $400.00 BECAUSE OF SPOILED FOOD...THEY DO NOT CARE....BEWARE OF LG...DO NOT BUY!!
So where do I begin? I a 2016 LG french door refrigerator modelbought LMXS30776S.ASBCNA0 in August of 2016. After 6 months with no issues and loving my new fridge, one day I heard a sizzling noise, a pop and then the smell of something burning from the fridge. Panicked I unplugged it and called LG. First, let me say that the people that answer the phone are always polite, however, very difficult to understand. I think it's the Phillipines, but not sure. They assure me it's under warranty and they will send a 3rd party vendor/technician within a week. I was afraid to plug it in so I lost food, time and aggravation. The technician didn't have a clue what it was, but assumed it was the panel board in the side of the door so he ordered that part. After waiting TWO WEEKS for the part to come in, he installs it, all good. Right? Wrong. Six months later the light in the chill drawer goes out. Thinking it needs a new light, I order one ($30.00), install it, still doesn't work. Ok, hate having no light on a $3000.00 fridge, but I dont have the time to deal with it. NOW, last month, I go in the kitchen and there's water on the floor and under the water dispenser...open the freezer, everything is defrosted/melted...I'm in shock...call LG and once again they will send out a technician, and I can ask for a food replacement reimbursement after the repair. Technician determines the compressor is gone on a 3yr old fridge! He states the original compressors were defective and it will take two weeks to get another one...does anyone understand the frustration and pure anger of not having a refrigerator? Never mind weeks as a time?! So tech installs new compressor, wait 24 hours to cool again, and yay...went shopping, filled up freezer and fridge and all is right with the world, right? WRONG AGAIN!! Less than a month later, went in the kitchen and guess what? Water all over the floor and water dispenser....open the freezer and all the food spoiled again! I just stood there and cried...I have never been so angry and frustrated in my life. CALLING LG FOR THE 3RD TIME ...they promise to send a Lg technician, not a 3rd party tech, who after testing the pressure of the radon in the unit states he has never seen such high levels. The previous tech had no idea what he was doing. I told him I want a replacement fridge but states if its repairable, LG won't replace it. The tech just left after hopefully repairing this piece of crap for the 3rd time. I have to wait the 24hours to see if it cools/freezes, if not he has to come back for further repairs. Regardless, I DON'T TRUST THIS APPLIANCE IN MY HOME....I HAVE NO TRUST IN LG...THEY NEED TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND REPLACE THIS UNIT!

Far Superior To Samsung

This Replaced two defective Samsungs that were delivered. It is far superior in every respect so far.
Both Samsungs made very loud "popping" noises all hours of the day due to the expansion and contraction of metal parts. Ice selection button didn't work on one of them.
LG ice is small but it actually dispenses crushed ice; Samsung crushed ice was something between cubed and crushed and it spit ice all over the place while dispensing.
I've only had the LG for a few days and hope it lasts. LG is more expensive than Samsung but well worth it!

Great Fridge, When It Works

Everything about this refrigerator is great, design, features, functionality...the only issue is that it broke down MULTIPLE times during the 2nd year, In my mind a refrigerator should last 20 years (I have one in my basement that is 25 years old and is still going strong). It started with fan issues, This model has 2 fans, I believe, 1 for the fridge section and 1 for the freezer. Both fans died multiple times. Then the compressor died. This one was much more major since the fridge was completely dead. At least with the fans the fridge worked keeping food cold.
Luckily I took an extended warranty with Best Buy or I would have been paying 500 dollars to fix a 2 year old refrigerator. Best Buy was great by the way. Great customer service, BUT, when the compressor died Best Buy sub contracts that repair. It was over a week before the repair was completed. Everything ran fine for 3 months. Then, the freezer fan died again. The determined that the fans were failing because of excess condensation tha was building up and then freezing. At this point Best Buy replaced the refrigerator. I have a brand new one that was installed 2 days ago. Stay tuned I guess.

Large capacity, inconsistent temperature

The esthetics of the refrigerator are nice and the four doors are convenient. What is overlooked while comparing between models and within brands are: the main refrigerator compartment is uneven and inconsistent in temperature. An operating range of 1 to 4 degrees error too warm can be a health concern (I had to reduce the thermostat to 35 degrees in an attempt to ac h I've a maximum 40 degrees); the ice maker makes a stated 3.8 lbs of ice per day. LGs smaller mdels actually use the same low capacity ice make but they have included a second ice maker in the freezer to meet a family or party need for ice (rediculous planning as the LXMS30776 is their largest model) and there is no storage bin for accumulation of batches of ice). Lastly, the unit is raised onto feet on proper installation, liftng it off of its wheels, making cleaning or moving the unit difficult to move.

I'm reviewing after 1 1/2 years of ownership. We generally like the refrigerator, but at 18 months the compressor is done. Warranty is 10 years but labor is only 1 year. So I am out $300 to fix a $3,000 refrigerator that isn't 2 years old.
In talking with the repair guy (it was exceedingly difficult to find someone who would even look at it since it was LG), the "linear compressor" has been pretty unreliable and just in the area he services his crew is replacing 5-6 per week.
It's disappointing that the trend with appliances is clearly paying more and more for lower and lower quality stuff.

The ice maker has not worked consistently in year one. You must buy an extended warranty, because I have had it serviced four times to a cost is three hundred dollars, including parts and labor per visit. This refrigerator was top of the line, but junk! I am buying my ice now and refuse to pay more to have the ice maker fixed. Customer service is very poor.

Bought in August 2018, and compressor went bad in September 2023, so just a tad over five years. :( for the cost it should last a lot longer! As I google the brand it states the compressor is a problem, and goes out usually quicker than ours did.
Ice was not producing as it should.

LG is a Bad Company

Do not buy an LG Refrigerator, if you do you will be sorry. If you don't believe me, contact a service repairman they will back me up. My wife and I purchased this refrigerator November of 2014 and in June of 2018 we went away for the weekend to come home to a refrigerator full of warm food. The refrigerator was running and sounded like normal but not cooling what so ever. Called a repairman, he came to tell us the compressor was bad. He said this is a common problem with LG refrigerators. He said the part would be covered by LG but the labor would be our responsibility at the price of $530.00. I asked him what he would do if it was his refrigerator, he said being an LG he would buy a new one. My wife and I talked it over and decided to go ahead and have it fixed. A new compressor was ordered and an appointment was set up for the following week, I took off time from work to have him come back to put it in, when he came back he took the new compressor out of the box and it was defective. After talking with the repairman again my wife and I decided to buy a Whirlpool. We are keeping the receipt hoping someone will start another Class Action Lawsuit against LG. Again, make up your own mind but I am taking the time to write this review to help as many people as I can. LG should not be making Refrigerators, the compressor systems they use are junk.

This is the worst refrigerator ever made. 6 months ago they replaced the compressor and the motherboard and it still doesn't work. It does not stay cool so I have to keep throwing food out. They said I am no longer covered by warranty but if you search any site they all have this problem with this refrigerator. How can they not cover this problem when so many people are experiencing the same issue. When you pay this much the product should work. Don't even try calling because they don't care.
I have warned all family and friends to NEVER buy LG.
I now have a $4000 paper weight sitting in my kitchen.
Would give it 0 stars if I could

Great Fridge with Efficient Use of Space

This refrigerator exceeds our expectations. We have a small kitchen and needed to replace our side-by-side GE Profile that died after 11 years. Since we had no other way to keep food cold (other than coolers) we had to make an informed decision quickly. We made our decision after reading many reviews (from many sources) on many brands. We went to a local store to compare our final 3, made sure that our measurements were accurate and chose this model for these reasons: highly recommended on all sites, black stainless finish, bottom freezer drawer fits frozen pizza boxes (yeah...that Samsung where you can see inside with your phone isn't wide enough), custom chill drawer (perfect for defrosting food or chilling wine, etc.), door-in-door feature (more useful than we imagined), ice cube maker doesn't take away space from refrigerator, can accommodate oversize containers (like a big stockpot), flexible handles, filtered water tastes delicious (no more bottled water) and its finish doesn't show finger smudges. We are impressed by how long fruits and vegetables stay fresh. We can easily see its contents so we haven't had to throw away food that spoiled because it was hidden behind a juice bottle. It's the same size as our old fridge but has much, much more room. It's one of those things that makes the most use of its space. One more thing; the black stainless steel finish blends well with our stainless steel appliances.

Defective and repair nightmare Don't Buy

Bought this a bit more than two years ago as a package of kitchen and laundry LG products. We loved it for about 2 years. Then it broke. No cooling in the fridge and little in the freezer. Do a little web research and you will find thousands of complaints of failures of the 'revolutionary' compressor. Call around and you will find it nearly impossible to find an authorized repair person. You will also find the vast majority of independents refuse to work on LG refrigerators. Call LG and you will find a frustrating, long series of calls with little to no help. Finally get a repair person (after, say 2 weeks with no cooling) and you will find that although the compressor is warranted for 10 years it doesn't include labor. Then you will find that a new compressor is on back order and wont be available for weeks. You will also find that many people who get a fix have the same problem again weeks or months later. I looked at Consumer Reports and ratings on the web before I bought. I guess these are just starting to die now. Never again will I buy LG. In fact, I spent more than $10K per year at Best Buy (computers for my business) and I think I may give up shopping here just because they still carry this defective product. Don't believe me - go check the LG twitter feed or spend 10 minutes googling. Only good point is it looks like there are some class action lawsuits forming.

Quality doesn’t match the high price

The capacity of this fridge is very good, however, the quality and design are lacking. The power to the door began to fail due to a design flaw that crimped the wires so it had to be replaced. Further, we have had many issues with the freezer fan icing over and causing the unit to fail to freeze. You can hear the fan chipping away at ice so at least there is some warning. We are currently looking to either replace the unit or repair it yet again. We believe the fan may have become inoperable, won’t know if we end up replacing it rather than paying for it to be serviced. We estimate that we have spent at least $1k in maintenance and repair since its purchase.

This is truly a unique refrigerator. The door in door access is absolutely the best and so very convenient . It is very easy to be organized with the interior design of this refrigerator. Also love the different shelves in the bottom freezer. The ice maker does not take any room away from the inside since it is nestled inside the door. The water flow in this refrigerator is also stronger than in any other refrigerator we owned before. We love everything about this refrigerator!

Nice features worked great for about 18 months then stop making Ice. Turns out that was a temperature issue. Thank goodness I had Geek Squad protection because it took two trips and then it was determined that it was a serious cooling issue and I am getting a replacement. They replaced the mother board and sensors plus the ice maker. Glad I had the Geek Squad protection !!! A shame this is rendered useless after 18 months !! Geek Squad were great too bad LG I cannot invest in another one of your refrigerators.

We got LMXS30776D model 3 years back, today we had an issue with refrigerator, it's running but not cooling, called geeksquad service but there is no service immediately, scheduled time after two days, should we wait without refrigerator ? we paid around $3000 and just worked 3 years, our neighbor also got same model and they got same issue, they suffered one month to get new refrigerator even though they had warranty...very poor service with Bestbuy and Geeksquad... we lost around $750 food items, I would give zero star if they have.....really upset with the product and service, LG customer care also very bad, they are saying to contact Bestbuy.

It appears this thing is perfect or its junk. Mine has similar problems as all the other poor reviews. Less than a year old and it quit. LG customer service is horrible. The local service company cant seem to fix it either. Been a few months now and still broken. Supposedly it needs a new board and compressor. I understand things break. But if takes months to repair then there is a serious problem. I have other refrigerators in my house but if this was my only one I would have thrown it through LGs window by now.
