The first time I used it it popped half a dozen kernels. The second time none. So I checked the owners manual to see if I was doing something wrong, but I was doing it right. The third time it popped just a few more. The manual talks about not doing brown paper popcorn bags, but Orville Reddenbacher comes in brown bags as does the cub scout popcorn I have. If you just put 3 minutes on the timer and stand there to take it out when the popping slows you can get a bag of popcorn. My 8 year old walmart special microwave could cook any size and color bag with one button and it cost a third of this LG. This performance makes me leery of using any of the other "sensor" functions. My old microwave would also do 1 minute if you pressed 1, 2 minutes if you pressed 2, etc. This one you have to enter all the digits. Not a huge deal, but still a step back from a better older and much cheaper microwave. On the bright side it looks really good and matches my LG refrigerator.
