I'm used to using projectors to give presentations at work, so I'm well aware of many of the drawbacks, and never really considered one for home. When I received this LG portable projector, I was prepared to be disappointed, but it more than exceeded my expectations. This projector basically is a SmartTV without a screen. It has wifi, and the capability to install apps like Netflix, and, the dealwinner for me, Plex, in addition to being able to play files from the phone (both wirelessly, and via USB/USB Type C) as well as wireless casting from computers using Intel WiDi. Like any projector, it does best in low light, though it is bright enough to be ok to use in dim lighting. The built in speakers are adequate enough to watch an action film without being disappointed in the quality, but you can also connect speakers via headphone jack, any bluetooth portable speaker, or to your stereo system via optical out. I installed the projector in my bedroom, right on top of my headboard, and project to the screen I have mounted so that I can lie in bed and watch shows & movies. I love that I can control the projector using an app on my phone, and that I don't even have to hook anything up to it to enjoy using it. And the best part, the internal battery allowing you to use the projector for 2.5 hours without plugging it in, means that this little baby is perfect for taking camping or even out to the back yard, hanging up a sheet (or a surprisingly affordable wrinkle-free portable projector screen if you want to get fancy), syncing up your bluetooth speakers and enjoying movie night under the stars. Can not recommend enough!

The picture quality on this unit is mind-blowing. This is my first projector, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't expecting such a beautiful picture. Set up was extremely easy. I've streamed Netflix and Youtube and have watched videos from my phone. All were seamless. The Smart TV capability is a big plus. Connecting the projector to my bluetooth speakers was easy and really amped up the theater-like experience. The battery and light size makes this a great choice for outdoor movie nights as well. Definitely worth your consideration if you're looking for a projector.

I remember back in the day when we used projectors in school...this ain't that kind of projector. Boy, they've come a long way since those days. This projector is super compact for easy storage. Incredibly easy to setup and has a very impressive picture quality. I was just really quite impressed with how great the picture quality and color were for this little projector. You can adjust the size of the screen by moving the device further away from what you're projecting and can adjust the focus to align with the distance. I'm really looking forward to lots of great evenings watching movies with this projector on the side of the garage or anywhere else we want to use it.

    Great image and extra features

    Posted .

It's a small projector but the image is of good quality. If your room is too bright or dark it has a quickly accessible setting to adjust. Many features. So far I've used native Netflix and YouTube apps. My YouTube account is connected to my phone so I can cast right from my phone too which was a nice surprise. I've also hooked it up to my computer and I set it to duplicate the image, did not notice any latency. The projector has a screwhole at the bottom right in the middle, so you can use a tripod and take it anywhere. I bought a cheap $30 tripod and it's doing fine. The only thing that might limit you is the power cable. It's not that long. Speaker is decent, however, if you're projecting in a big area you should definitely hook up a speaker. I tried this feature too and was satisfied.

I cannot wait till football season. This projector has an amazing picture even at 125 inches. Setting it up took 5 minutes and it walked me right through it step by step. Also it can be wireless meaning it can be set up anywhere providing it is charged. Hooked up to my WiFi network with ease and logged into Netflix for a movie night. The internal speaker is not a movie quality speaker but hooked right into my sound system and boom. Future plans for presentations at work and outdoor neighborhood movie nights. Hooks up to my laptop and phone with a single cable. I’m very happy and impressed by this projector. Thumbs up

This product is light weight, has a long battery life and easy to set up. Excellent picture! The sound could be better but it doesn’t promise more than what it delivers. Setting up a Bluetooth speaker solved the sound issue. For the price, well worth it!

    Very Impressive Small Projector

WOW! The LG PF50KA Projector has really impressed me. I have stayed away from “projecting onto a screen” type TVs mainly because of picture quality. The picture quality of this LG projector is excellent! Plus I was looking for a portable unit that I could easily transport to the family summer place, and use for business presentations. This unit handles both situations very well. The LG PF50KA Projector is a very compact (~ 7” x 7” x 2”), portable (battery or plug-in), 1080 P Smart projector, 600 lumens of projection power, with lots of connectivity options. I won't go any deeper into specs as that is easily looked up on the Best Buy website. I will concentrate my review on my very good user experience. First order of business was unboxing the unit, plugging it in and fully charging it. The included user’s manual is a typical very basic, multilanguage, just barely get you started, type manual. It does direct you to the LG website which has a very comprehensive 170 page manual which I found very helpful and instructive. Online manual is highly recommended. Again this is my 1st experience with a projector (screen type) TV, so I did not have a screen to start with. I borrowed an old massive pulldown screen and jerry-rigged it just to get it on a stand and get me started. I plugged an HDMI cable into an output from my home theater system and fired up the projector. I thought I had a table in a perfect position to set the projector on - not so much it turned out. With the projector sitting on the table I did not have the adjustability I found I needed to get the picture at the correct height and properly located on the screen. So I decided to try a good sturdy camera stand and use the mounting hole on the bottom of the projector. Soon found that is absolutely the way to go for the portability that I was looking for. Camera stand made it very easy to get the projector at the proper height, square to the screen, and move it towards/away from the screen to absolutely fill the screen with the picture. I quickly had the picture looking good and well-focused on screen. An added plus is that having the projector on a stand reduces the fan noise that is a bit intrusive in quiet scenes. Then I went through the set up on the LG PF50KA. It was a very easy step-by-step, walk-you-through-it set up. I am in a rural location and do not have the availability of over-the-air TV. I did not run through the TV channels set up, but it also looked very easy and intuitive. The cable TV feed looked really good on the old screen. I was able to get the picture up to 110 inches, looking good and focused, before running out of set up space. Now I knew I needed to get my own portable screen to meet my needs. Purchased a new portable screen at Best Buy and when I set that up the cable TV picture was fantastic in my light controlled room. Bright afternoon sun coming into the room does wash out the picture. It is still watchable, just does not have bright colors and good contrast with dark colors. Because I was hooked up through my home theater, I tried out a Blu-ray movie. I also got a fantastic looking movie experience with no issues whatsoever. Knowing that this is only a 1080P projector, I wanted to find out what would happen when feeding it with a 4K disc input. I got an even better and more detailed picture with the 4K disc. I was able to flip back and forth on the same movie with standard Blu-ray and 4K. Standard Blu-ray is a really great picture, but the 4K picture is even better and more detailed - not surprisingly. Just very impressed that the LG PF50KA was able to handle this and make use of the 4K feed. I really wanted to know just how good this projector was after my great initial experience. I packed up everything (remember that portability I wanted) and went to my daughter’s house. She has my LaserVue Rear Projection 75 inch TV. That was, arguably, one of the best TVs on the market 3 years ago. I set up the LG PF50KA right next to the LaserVue and ran the same Blu-ray disc at the same time on both TVs. The LG PF50KA definitely had the better picture - it was brighter, more colorful, and had better defined details. I was actually quite surprised. Next I wanted to give this unit a real test. I took my LG PF50KA and stand into a Best Buy Magnolia Demo Room and set it up to compare it to a $5000 4K stationary set up. Again I was able to flip back and forth on the same feed, using the same screen. Very surprised and impressed that the LG PF50KA projector to my eyes was the equal of the $5000 projector! I actually thought that the picture from my unit was just a slight bit brighter and more detailed than the system costing almost 8 times as much! Even the Best Buy personnel were impressed with the LG PF50KA capabilities. Now on to using the LG PF50KA for business, I hooked up my laptop through the HDMI cable and found everything was instantly usable. I had to do no adjusting whatsoever. Having an 80” laptop screen is kind of awesome. The fact that the LG PF50KA is very portable and battery-operated makes it ideal for traveling for presentations. Set up your laptop, plug in the LG PF50KA, turn them on and you are ready to go. No looking for outlets to plug into – no power cords hanging around – no extension cords needed to get to that one available outlet, etc. It has the same great picture quality on presentations. The unit has only 1 watt stereo speakers though. Enough sound for a normally quiet conference room, but not enough for a large hall or classroom. You can easily add a Bluetooth speaker(s) to your setup. I did easily connect my sound bar via the LG PF50KA’s Bluetooth out. I was experimenting and put a lengthy PowerPoint presentation on a USB stick. With nothing else connected, i.e. no laptop, I plugged the USB stick into the port on the back of the LG PF50KA. I changed the input to the USB port, and was able to run the presentation with the LG remote control. Even the embedded video in the presentation worked correctly. No additional software required. Very slick! That way you can run the presentation without having your laptop screen visible to everyone in the room. That is a huge plus in my book. I would recommend a tabletop stand for setup adjustability. Bottom Line: I highly recommend the LG PF50KA for both portable home use and business use! Likes: - Fantastic picture in a light controlled room - Highly portable - Battery operated when needed - Small size - Lots of connection options - Easy to use - Runs presentations without computer connected - Uses 4K input effectively - Works well with camera tripod for portable setup Oks: - Needs light controlled room or dusk outside - Speakers not very powerful, needs sound system Dislikes: - Fan noise, especially if setup near seating - No backlit remote for use in low light level Total miss: - No lens cap for a portable unit that will be transported!

Great picture as might not go out to 100 but looks great at 72. Very small as easily fit into luggage or computer bag. Smart app include hulu, Netflix and youtube. Does not include amazon prime or vudu. No premium channels were available as apps. This is odd as other LG smart app devices have these. A nice portable unit for home use

I bought this almost palm sized projector for home viewing in a darkened family room. So far it performs well if not for the perfectionist or video professional. The fan noise is undetectable as soon as the film's audio begins. I have it mounted on a tripod with a video camera fluid head so I can vary angles and height quickly. I can position this projector on whatever blank white or near white wall easily except the AC cord, HDML and hard wired audio cables need to shifted as well. Battery operation only with short programs under 2 hours I'd guess otherwise you have to switch to AC adaptor in mid stream of viewing program. Using wireless Fire Stick or Chromecast for all video services. Pairing to home fiber optic internet was easy using automatic WPS button. The one gripe I have - the light intensity could be brighter as some video sources have poor quality or dark scenes that are hard to read. Ideal projection throw seems to be from 5 feet to 11 feet yielding an image of around 40" to 75" horizontal. Satellite video signals via HDML cable are excellent in general but do you really want to watch news or a TV series that big and suffer through commercials? Sports would be perfect if we had it now, unfortunately we are currently in a global pandemic. Too large an image throw results in insufficient intensity or unreadable shadow areas, say over 85"- 90". Also I was overwhelmed with a screen so large in my home, had to make the image smaller, otherwise your eyes are scanning the screen area from left to right which is annoying. Audio is either with fast Bluetooth connection or wired 3,5 mm. mini cable to 2 channel stereo system. Bluetooth is better obviously, no hassle with cables. Those who want to use this unit in daylight will be disappointed, it is not for that purpose. My main gripe is that one cannot adjust color saturation, tint or balance with this device, it is set at factory apparently. It does provide various intensity pre-sets such as games, cinema, standard, etc. Finally the LG PF50KA is not a replacement for a real cinema experience but it gives you a nice alternative to a massive 55"- 85" LED TV unit as long as you are not a perfectionist and do not want to spend $1000-2000 for home entertainment projector. Having a high end sound bar will greatly enhance your experience with the LG - PF50KA. I am a pro still photographer and video shooter so I'm hard to please hence the reservations on this unit. For what I paid, $558.00, it does the job nicely. It will save me hundreds of $ in theater admissions, dinners out, tips and the hassle of driving to venues and parking lot costs. Nowadays you don't have to risk getting COVID-19 in public theater either.
