Saves your place if you turn it off with the disc inside. I can't give it 5 stars because it is hard to tell where you are in a movie. When you click play or pause, it doesn't show you how many minutes you're at. You have to open an info display that covers the left side of the screen. Also, if you want subtitles, I've had to turn them on from the disc menu rather then just hitting a subtitle button like my old player/remote.
