I bought it because I needed to upgrade to a player that had a USB port so that I could play movies from hard drive as well play the occasional blue ray disc. The only problem I've had is sometimes it doesn't recognized the format of a movie from my hard drive which is to be expected sometimes and for some reason I have to unplug it and plug it back in in order for it to turn on/off, switch media, etc,.

The app control is sluggish and often unresponsive. It takes 5 minutes before entering search parameters in apps is possible, DVDs load right up without much load time. I will go with a traditional DVD player and buy an Apple TV next time.
