Freezes Up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well in general, but freezes up sometimes so that no buttons on remote or blu-ray player will work, not even power button. Only way to cut off is to unplug from electricity. When I tried to exchange it I was told Best Buy will only take back items within 15 days of sale. I was on day 28. What a ripoff. I didn't even hook up the blu-ray player until I'd had it for 5 days. What a ripoff!

Very noisy/distracting harddrive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't notice within the return period which I think was because we played a lot of loud action movie … at least I hope that's why. I first noticed when we played a drama which had quite scenes that the drive is noticeably and annoying loud. I wish we played a drama within the return period :). I would have returned it for sure. I just hope it doesn't get worse indicating poor design or reliability.

2 years old, wont eject.

Can't stream

Jumbles captioning--sometimes it presents captions before the words, frequently skips captioning completely, and sometimes will throw a phrase from 30 or 45 seconds ago into the middle of a conversation.

Defective out of the Box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After viewing a video the only way to eject the disc is to unplug at the power source, plug it back in, and then eject. Sometimes I had to unplug twice to get the disc back. Green indicator light would blink that it was receiving commands from the remote, but would not function, just gave off whirring sound. Even the manual control buttons would not get it to eject. I am beyond disappointed as I have spent over an hour looking for the receipt. It was the cheapest model on sale and in stock and my regrets are great. I bought a top of the line LG laundry set and the washer failed at installation requiring a replacement. Avoiding LG big time going forward.

Worst player I've had

Locks up frequently requiring complete resetting. Happens as least twice a day. Remote does not connect to anything other than LG. Would not recommend this.

Don't bother

I tried contacting LG support and was on the phone with support going round and round. It was the most ridiculous experience I've had with support for anything from any company. Simply, they would not allow the return of the item. The warranty is not supported. I am no longer a customer of LG.

Smart Function is Useless

When we try to open apps such as Netflix and Hulu, they load about 10% of the time... then crash in the middle of a show. Youtube audio on videos continue playing even after you're back on the home screen. We've been trying to use the player over the last hour and now it's locked up and won't even turn off. Total waste of money.

Died after very little use.

Thought it was a nice replacement for a broken one and it did work well for the 12-15 times or less I used it. Now it won’t recognize discs and I’ve tried different ones. Blew out the dust with canned air but really couldn’t see any in the first place. VERY disappointing!

USB does not support Mac OS Extended or exFat
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you're an Apple user, please take note: this player will not recognize a USB drive that is formatted in Mac OS Extended or exFat. The player will only recognize FAT and NTFS formatting. Movie files regularly exceed the FAT file-size limitation, and Apple's OSX won't write to NTFS unless you're willing to mess around in Terminal, so this LG player is basically useless for Apple users wanting to play full-length feature movies from a USB drive.

Didn't last long
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My LG BP175 Blu-ray player worked well for about two months, then it malfunctioned/broke. Nothing but a blank screen. It's cheap, but still not worth the price, too shoddy. By the way I have an LG phone that has worked well for years so I don't have anything against LG. This Blu-ray player, though, is apparently just poorly made.

This is junk

Did some troubleshooting to verify it was not the HDMI cable or port. The replacement unit lasted about one month and then also died with no output. Best But was very cooperative and allowed me to return it for a Sony. LG=Life's Good when you don't buy one!
