Nowadays it somewhat difficult to find an external DVD unit, especially one that is Affordable. The quality is good, it works well. Software is included, but it's not necessary. With a good quality DVD, I found good and reliable writes.

Windows 10 Compatibility Issues, it sets up fine, it works too. Though, it runs slow at times and it is a noisy bugger. I think the compatibility issues are deriving from windows 10, but I am not certain. For some reason the music I try to burn from my music files to a disc in this Optical Disc Drive, sometimes Media Player doesn't like some of my music files. I get the red "X" next to a file or more, then 30 minutes later as I am still messing with it, it will finally burn all the music I wanted to the disc??? So, I took one star for the speed and noise. I am assuming the other issue/s is Windows 10, otherwise I would give it one star. = /

Reads and writes DVD's as advertised. Also used it to install software without a hitch so run out and buy yours today before Best Buy runs of them. I would recommend this to a friend but I don't have any.

I hate that newer laptops no longer have CD roms because I like it that way. This is compact, affordable and convenient for times where you need a disk. My husband does photography with Desimone Gallery and they use cd's all the time.

With so many laptops with the cd/dvd drive around it has become a necessity to have an external drive. The value and ease of installation made this one a perfect choice. Would purchase this again.

Perfect tool to burn disk, silent, read everything, even disk full of scratch, very durable through years. That is all you need for a external dvd drive right! Slim drive cant compare to this one, serious!

It does its job and works well, but it is kind of big being a cd drive, if you don't have room to put it in or on your PC build, it could be a bit tedious to work with. I have a desk with a wooden board above my build so it's perfect for me.

Use the dvd writer on my computer-works well. Doesn't give me any problems. Doesn't seem I need to say more. But it indicates you want to know more. There is no more to tell you.

I bought the LG super-multi to use with my new laptop which does not have an internal DVD burner. I like it so much that I use it on several other computers because it is plug and play and better than the internal drive. All you need is a USB port and an outlet for the power supply.

GREAT product. I actually own two of them to use with two different computers. VERY easy to use and it works very well in playing DVDs and in making copies of DVDs. I highly recommend that you buy this product if you are looking for a superior, reasonably priced product.

This computer is extremely fast, quiet and has fantastic storage. The monitor is great. The mouse that came with the unit is terrible; it has sharp edges that make you feel if you move wrong you will cut your fingers.

This LG unit was a surprise in its weight and heavy duty nature. It is large, so find another if you want a compact unit. It, however, performs flawlessly and was installed easily. Moreover, the eject button is good sized and not like other miniature buttons that you can never find on some others. A good machine so far!

Useful to have an external USB DVD drive to connect to a laptop that doesn't have a built-in one. Allows me to use to play DVDs and music CDs for those who haven't gone to strictly streamed content.

I needed a Dvd player(my optical drive on desktop broken) and this works perfectly.I did,nt use the software.But it works fine with other software you can get for free(VLC,Windows Media Player,etc) I really like this external optical drive! Thank you Best Buy!

Lightning took out parts of my computer (on a surge protector) I needed a new DVD±/CD-RW Drive. This was my first choice after researching. Works great, easy interface. I have been wanting a dual layer burner. My computer is compact, so this was perfect.

I burn DVD's of sporting events that I record as part of my business. This unit replaced the DVD burner in my professionally built video editing computer that decided to take a vacation. It has worked as well for me and allowed me to be up and running quickly

I'm still "old school". I play CDs. Heck, I still play vinyl. I like to burn CD-R "mix discs" for my car. So when the built-in CD burner to my PC "died", I was looking for a relatively inexpensive way to replace the CD burner without having to replace my entire PC. Hence, the LG GE24NU30 CD burner/player. So far, it's worked great--no issues. It feels like it's "built like a tank" which I liked over some cheaper CD burners out there. I'm very happy with this unit.

Most computers don't come with internal optical drives. Bought this to go along with my HP Envy 360. Burned recovery discs for the HP and it was very fast. No problems

I needed something to hookup to my Microsoft Surface, This easily attached to my docking station and was recognized and running right away. I was able to burn a data DVD and a music compatible CD within a few minutes of installing.
