These are solid for use as traditional truly wireless earbuds but the connection when using the case as a wireless transmitter is hit or miss and goes out constantly.

Pro: -3.5 wired connection mode -UV light cleaning Con: -Noise cancellation could be better -No wireless charging These are small, comfortable, and barely noticeable when wearing them. The touch buttons are sensitive but are small enough to help reduce accidentally activating them. The charging case is compact and has two unique features. One is the UV light that helps keep the earbuds clean, which comes on for 5 mins while charging in the case. The other feature is being able to switch to a wired connection. With the wired connection, the included USB-C to 3.5mm can be used to connect to devices that don't have bluetooth such as on a plane or Nintendo Switch. The sound is good with nice balanced levels. There are other settings available in the app if you prefer to adjust the EQ. The noise cancellation is alright. It mostly cancels really low rumbling or turbulent noises, while reducing other background noises by at least 50%. I can still hear some things like AC and fans well enough. With ambient noise on, background noise is enhanced a bit but still sounds natural with just a bit of a hiss that’s not really that noticeable. The battery life is about 9-10 hours with the noise cancellation on. The case will give you another full charge. There’s also a quick 5 min charge that will give you about an hour of use. The app has a nice set of features and settings. It lets you adjust the amount of noise canceling, adjust the EQ, disable the auto play/pause, and customize the functions of the touch buttons. There’s also a Find my Earbuds that play a sound in each of the earbuds as long as they’re within bluetooth range. There’s a Tone Free LAB tab that has two other settings that are still in the works, a game mode and whispering mode. There’s one flaw in the first time setup for the app. The earbuds must be in the case and have not been paired to your phone (forget connection if already paired). If not set up this way, the app will not work properly.

LG - TONE Free FP9 Wireless Earbuds are great headphones with awesome functionality. The best feature is that you can wirelessly connect to devices without Bluetooth capability. This is done by connecting the case directly to the device's aux port and turning on the Plug & Wireless mode. The sound quality is amazing. It comes with Active Noise Cancellation and Ambient Sound settings that can be customized using the LG TONE Free app. The app also lets you adjust and customize EQ settings. The earbuds comes with 3 sets of ear gels for a comfortable fit. The earbuds are also water resistant, IPX4 rated. The charging case includes UV-C light that cleans (kills germs) the speaker mesh using the UV light. This works only when the charging case is connected to power source and for the first five minutes only. Connecting to devices is pretty easy. My Windows PC was able to detect it as soon as I open the case using Swift Pair. The earbuds will last you 10 hours on a single charge and a total of 24 hours with the charging case. It also provides you an hour of usage with just 5 minutes of quick charge. I like the independent usage of each earbud without the need to use both at the same time. I wish this supported wireless charging. I also noticed that it gets somewhat uncomfortable if I am wearing the earbuds for long. Even with the right ear gel tip, I couldn't wear them all day compared to other earbuds that I use and have no problem with hours of use. Overall, this is definitely a nice earbuds to have whether you use them for work or travel or any activity.

    Quality BT Ear Buds

These new LG BT ear buds are pretty solid. I would say they are good to great in every area I can think to judge ear buds. To start with, I’d like to talk about the case. The case is compact and well designed. Open it and you can see how charged up the buds are, close it and you can see how much of a charge the case has. The buds fit quickly and easily in place and charge fairly quickly. The case can be plugged into a headphone (3.5m) jack and then wirelessly transmit the audio to the buds, this is a cool feature! Now let’s move onto the buds themselves. These little guys are the best fitting buds I think I have ever used. They fit snug and secure for me with the default hypoallergenic silicone ear gels, and they offer a few others you can switch out to best match your ears. They are water resistant so things like sweat or rain should be no issue. They also have a pretty solid noise cancelling feature that works well. There is also the opposite mode where it amplifies sounds around you if say you are listening to music but still want to be aware of your surroundings. Connecting the buds was quick and easy. Opening the case puts them in pair mode and I had them connected to my phone in less than a minute before I even started to look at the instructions. The quality of the connection seemed quite strong as well. I mostly have been using them while answering calls and testing them by walking around everywhere. Whether I’m walking around my house with my phone left on my desk, or walking around in public where there is more potential interference, the quality of the connection was solid. Music sounds pretty good as well. I have tradition studio style headphones that I use at my desk that sound better, but for such small portable buds, they sound really good. Tap to pause and stop audio or to answer a call. A quick double tap on the right or left bud and adjust the volume up or down. Battery life was quite solid as well. I spent one 8 hour shift nearly constantly on the phone or listening to music and it made it thru that challenge just fine. All in all these are a solid product. They accompanying app is ok, as it helps you figure out what settings you want. More handy IMO if you want multiple presets for different tasks, like fine tuning for calls, music or podcasts. They are a bit on the expensive side as well, so I probably wouldn’t recommend these for the more budgeted consumer. But if quality is more important than price, I would definitely recommend these to a friend.

These are some great headphones! In terms of sound and loudness they are perfect for work, working out and commuting. They are small and light and stay put in your ears yet are also comfortable to wear for extended periods. I absolutely love the case as it's small and light. I'd say these definitely to me are on par with my beats headphones except the case is much much smaller and there are more features like the UV disinfecting light that comes on when they are plugged in and charging. They pair up super fast and my newer phone popped up asking to pair to them without even fumbling through any menus. It prompted an optional download of the software which is not required to use them but is required if you wish to adjust settings to control how they sound. For how they sound, I think they sound great for normal listening and with the right amount of bass for my taste. You can customize the listening profile to your own taste with the app though I would not expect them to be louder than they are at max volume even if you adjust EQ's. To some that may disappoint but for me they work great and I'd recommend them!

Unboxing/First Impressions – 4/5 First LG product I ever own since the Chocolate cellphone from back in the 2000s lol. Honestly, nothing too special about the opening experience but that’s not too important for me. Upon seeing the earbuds I quickly forgot about the unboxing experience because the earbuds look great and fit great. Comfort – 5/5 I tend to use my earbuds while working, and I noticed I can wear these for hours without experiencing any level of uncomfortableness. I also like to sleep with white sound sometimes and have slept with these on, and when I turn on my side, they keep playing and don’t hurt my ears at all. Very happy about this because I have a hard time finding headphones that allow me to turn to my side without pressing on the buttons and ruining that experience. Sound – 4/5 The sound of these headphones is phenomenal. The LG app really brings the best out of these earbuds, and I am in love with the Clear and Spatial Sound option (Meridian). It brings out the best in music and movies, and just about anything you are playing. In my opinion, it’s a little better than Apple’s spatial sound experience with the AirPods Pro. Now why I am not giving these a 5/5 in sound is because I wish this was louder. I like listening to my music loud when I am in airplane rides or in bus rides, and these unfortunately cannot get loud enough to block of the sound from the real world (unless you are in a quite space like your house). I tried all different sound options in the LG app but none of them made these louder. Sound quality is perfect I just wish these were louder. Enhanced Active Noise Cancellation – 3/5 I usually test the active noise cancellation when I am vacuuming or in airplane rides, and unfortunately these did not do the job for me in this area. 3/5 for me, but because I don’t always need active noise cancellation, the spatial sound does it for me and these are my to go headphones at the moment. Microphone – 3/5 After attempting to use these twice in a phone call and both people telling me they couldn’t really hear me, I decided to stop using them for calls. Perhaps it could have been my signal, but I disconnected the headphones, and they could hear me fine. I don’t get earbuds to call people so on a personal level this isn’t really a factor. Range – 5/5 I tested the range of these and was surprised on how far they can go. I left my house to throw out the trash and they were still connected. Impressed by the range of these without a doubt. Design – 5/5 These are probably my favorite part of earbuds at the moment. I had some Jabra, Beats Studio Buds, Apple AirPods, and I am using these on the daily. They feel extremely comfortable, and they look sleek. Yes, they are almost an identical design to the AirPods Pro, but I used to own them and these are more comfortable on my ear. I still don’t know what it is, maybe they are a bit smaller and so they fit my ear better. Battery – 5/5 Battery has gone above my expectations. I tend to fall asleep with these and when I wake up, they are still playing the white sound, so they do the 10 hours as advertise for sure. Plug & Wireless Function: I haven’t had the change to try this a lot but it’s honestly a pretty cool feature that no other headphone can provide. I tried it while gaming on a Nintendo Switch and it was good to be able to game with some wireless earbuds. WIN-WIN situation!

LG has crafted something quite unique in its own way. Something new I have never seen before or thought was possible. These earbuds have their own self-cleaning UV system. Yes, they sound fantastic and they boast LG sound quality perfectly. But what’s really there shouldn’t be overlooked is the standout feature known as UVnano. UVnano is inside the charging case that supposedly kills 99% of bacteria on the speaker mesh and ear gels. For a few weeks, I used them they haven’t been dirty all that much so I guess it’s working. If it is this is pretty cool alone to be used as living out in the city area earbuds sometimes hit the ground in wet conditions. UV LED only works when the charging case is connected to the power. This claim is to kill germs in about 5 minutes of your time. Which helps the speaker grills to maintain a level of cleanliness too. The other awesome feature for these earbuds is the fact you can connect the case to anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack and listen to your music wirelessly! This I love because no more deciding between wireless and wired headphones. You can use these on a flight with no issues. The LG tone is both in one! I can’t tell you how much this could improve a product. Having this simple feature is a plus for everyone. The sound quality maintains its peak in this mode as well. Moving on to the headphones themselves now; they are very nicely designed and fit the ears good. The charging case and earbuds magnetically connect together. LG Tone looks futuristic and solid to the touch as they seem durable. The earbuds charge fast and quickly with 5 mins giving you 60 mins of charge / full charge turning into 10 hours and the case gives you an additional 24 hours. Overall the sound are leaps and bounds over some of the competition in this price range and LG tones are a lot better than some of the other ones I tested. Bass is super strong without any EQ settings so I love that. By the way, they are IPX4 rated for waterproof satiations I just think these are a well-rounded choice for the price. The earbuds are worth the price they are and seem to keep up with my lifestyle. Have no issues with these.

Rugged set of quality earbuds packed with features

After a few weeks of use, I'm a fan of 90% of the features and quality of the LG TONE Free earbuds. These earbuds come with the UV sterilizing charging case, USB C charging cable, USB C to aux, multiple size ear tips, and paperwork. Both the UV case and the USB to aux are unique features to these earbuds. The UV case, in theory, kills bacteria on the speaker mesh, which activates automatically when the ear buds are placed in the charging case while the case is charging via USB cable. The UV cycle runs for 5 minutes and kills 99% bacteria, this is nice for teens that share everything, including earbuds and germs, as well as for individuals who prefer earbuds but struggle with ear infections. I'm still not 100% sold on how effective this is, but can't say I've ever gotten sick from earbuds. The other nice unique feature is the aux cable. If you don't have bluetooth, but do have an aux port (think old school headphones) you can plug the aux cable in to your device and the case, then stream media straight through the case. For ease of use, LG wins this feature, pairing is very simple, turn on bluetooth, open case and hold the button on either earbud while in case. The battery light will turn blue and you can pair. One very nice feature, if using an Android, there is a fast pair option where the ear buds popup at the top of the screen, tap to select and you are paired. I'm a fan of less work and faster connecting. The case is very light weight and small enough to keep in your pocket or bag. The case has a red, yellow, green battery life indicator level light, a UVnano light (for when cycle is running), aux port slider to enable aux streaming, and a USB C charging port. There is an accompanying app, LG TONE Free, that is useful but not required. In the app are: battery status, software update, manual control function adjustment for each ear (functions are 1, 2, 3 taps or a long press), 5 preset equalizer functions and two user input / custom settings, ANC high, low, and off (more to come on this), auto play/pause toggle, touchpad settings, beta lab, earbud locator, and some legal reading material. The quality of the earbuds is noticeable, I feel like I can drop them (I have) without damaging the microphone or buttons. I also think they would bounce (they will) and show no physical damage to the finish or structure of the earbud. The buttons are nice, with enough travel to know you have pressed it, but you aren't shoving the earbud halfway into your brain to get a response. As far as real world use, I had no issues with sweat, or cleaning them with a damp cloth, and the magnet holds them in place in the case, so no matter how crazy I get working around the farm, they are still seated securely in the case. I give the sound quality 5 stars, its excellent, not fully immersive that you get from over the ear large driver headphones, but fantastic for size. I found these earbuds have the same limitations as most earbuds, albeit less noticeable, the sound is still a little flat and loses some crispness at the end of both ranges. On the flip side, the microphone performance is one of the best I've used, with calls and meetings coming through crisp to my audience and zero lag, background noise / static, or distraction. The 3 microphone system LG uses yields exceptional sound quality for those on the other end of call. Lastly, and my only complaint, is the ANC. When turned off I find that I can hear myself unnaturally loud during calls, so I always keep it turned on. When turned on, either high or low ANC, with the ear tips fitted correctly, I struggle to notice any ANC, even at minor levels of background noise. Based on how fantastic the other functionality is, I was expecting to be impressed, however I found this to be the only lacking feature. Overall, this is an easy recommendation for me, pick up a pair, throw them in your bag (or down the stairs, they can take it), and they will be there, perfectly sanitized and waiting for your next adventure.

A very decent pair of noise-cancelling TWS buds

I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review. The LG Tone Free true wireless stereo earbuds are a solid pair of noise-cancelling earbuds. The charge case features USB-C and Qi wireless charging, analog audio input, and UV-C LEDs for sanitizing the earbuds while charging. Their sound is solid and clear, noise cancelling works, and the feature where you can use a special 3.5mm to USB-C cable to connect the earbuds to an analog source using the charging case is an interesting feature. My only problem is the earbud tips were a little flimsier than I'm used to, meaning I couldn't get a consistently great seal in my ear versus other brands I've used. Otherwise, they do fit well and don't move if you're active and have a solid feature set for the price. --------------------------------------------------------------- Unboxing and setup: Open the box and you're presented with a small charge case with a USB-C port on the back. Inside the charge case are the earbuds, with the medium tips already fitted. Under a plastic insert are a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging, a USB-C to 3.5mm/AUX jack cable for audio input, small and large ear tips, and instruction literature. The charge case is about the same size as the charge case for those white earbuds we all know so well. The biggest difference here is the edges of the case, while smooth, are more pronounced, making them a little less pocketable. Their small size means it's still easy to take with you, however. The cables are longer than expected; most bluetooth headphones come with USB cables about 3-6 inches long while LG managed to pack in cables about 18 inches long each. Well done in this regard. The earbud tips are softer than most other brands. While you may find this more comfortable, I found them more difficult to make a proper seal with in my ears. Pairing the first time is simple. The analog connection is also simple, and works with anything that outputs stereo sound through a 3.5mm jack. Re-pairing the headphones is also more simple than with other earbuds, should the need arise. --------------------------------------------------------------- Usage and performance: Audio performance with an iPhone 11 is great, even without the LG Tone Free app. Latency is almost non-existent, sound quality is pretty even overall. The noise cancelling can be enabled and disabled with taps on the earbuds themselves. The app allows you to change nearly everything about the earbuds - Eq presents and settings, noice cancellation/ambient mode, and touch control enable/disable. Noice cancellation is particularly noticeable, varying between an ambient mode that allows you to hear your surroundings to a noise cancelling mode that nearly blocks out all sounds, from conversations in the same room to a loud TV. Analog input mode is simple to use, too. Connect the USB-C to 3.5mm cable to your source and the charging case, and flip the analog in switch. The Tone Frees do the rest. Latency while connected this way is also almost non-existent. --------------------------------------------------------------- Issues: My only real gripe with these - and all LG earbuds - is the tips don't seal well in my ears. Other people in my family don't have this issue, however. My other gripe is the wireless charging is a little sensitive to some chargers, but it does generally work. --------------------------------------------------------------- In closing, do I recommend the LG Tone Free Trie Wireless Stereo earbuds? Yes.

So the plug in wired dongle aspect of my unit fails to work with all my audio jack devices despite everyone stating how easy and great the feature is. The cradle wont close the app nor sync up to the wireless in ears when switching to plug in mode like intended. Maybe I got a faulty unit (its up to date) but I've lost a few hours messing around with this unless device.

So my family has a thing about wireless headphones... they just don't like them. They don' like the buds, they don't like the headphones, nothing... they want it wired. I don't know why, me... give me the wireless anyway of the week. FINALLY this set, may have solved the issues for one of my family members... First the audio is pretty solid on these, I enjoyed listening to multiple musical soundtracks, my 80's... good sound, but even on the highest level.. not that loud. I like the light weight of them, once they are in, there is not a lot of drag or pull on the ears, and you don't even notice them after a while. Took a minute or two to figure how to get them back in the case, but all good after you figure it out. I like the sleekness of the case as well. Easy to use, Very easy to charge. I think maybe the only thing I would like to get added to these headphones, is natural support for an Air Tag or Title dongle. As we have already had to search more then once for the case. Now my daughter has now taken these from me, and claimed them as her own. Must be a good fit on her ear, because she can't hear me talking to her... and I can't hear the audio from her ear. (win/win). No complaints from her on the microphone, her friends on the other side of the connection obviously aren't having problems. I have had many of the LG-Tone products prior, and have always been satisfied with the quality. And this one is no exception.
