I bought this item on sale. It is smaller than other external drives I have used, and it booted up with my Win 10 laptop (no extra driver needed). However, I did need to load a separate driver to watch DVD movies with Win 10, as my version did not have a player in it. But for data files (Excel, Word, PDF files) no extra drivers was necessary.

I needed an external optical drive because my new Asus laptop did not come with one. LG has always been a name you can trust so I did not hesitate to purchase this device. It works great and it fits perfectly into my laptop carrying case. I would definitely recommend this device to anyone looking for an external DVD optical drive.

Since we just purchased our first laptop in place of our desktop, and the laptop had no CD/DVD reader, we needed an external one to accommodate our stash of CDs. This has fit the bill. Light weight, easy to plug in, and slim enough to store away quickly when not in use. And with our Best Buy rewards, this was a great deal.

This compact, lightweight drive has been treating me right so far. I've tasked it with ripping my old CD library into FLAC. It's gone hours at a time without complaining, error free. CDs with bad scratches caused a strange clicking sound a few times, but ultimately it got the job done. Price was right for a major brand.

HP - Spectre x360 2-in-1 15.6" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop, Intel Core i7 is just great. Slim, light, quiet, (someone mentioned loud in their review, that is not the case) Lightning quick start up and shut down. Love 4K and the face recognition, nice looking too, but the little draw back is--it's hard to open.

I just replaced my old, cluncky Lenovo Thinkpad with a sleek, thin Yoga 900. The only thing I couldn''t do was install software from CDs and rip audio CDs into ITunes. This drive allowed me to do both easily and inexpensively. Plug and play installation on Windows 10.

I purchased this for my dad's imac which doesn't come with an disc player. He primarily uses it to play dvds and cds. It does the job well, easy to install (really plug and play), and he's able to use it quickly. The only thing is that it's a bit noisier than I expected but otherwise, good purchase for the price.

After purchasing my new laptop at BestBuy I later realized that I still had programs and DVD's that required a DVD/CD drive to run. This product was presented to me by a BestBuy employee and the recommendation provided a product that works great and was economical.

Plug and go. Works like a charm. Thin, light and fast.

I am so glad that USB DVD burner drives are still around. Many newer laptops do not come with any disc drive so having an external, portable USB device is a must. This is a good, basic DVD that enables reading CDs, DVDs and backing up to DVD or burning music and OS discs simply and easily.

This item was easy to install, is lightweight, small in size, and works as well as the sales personnel/geeksquad member said it would work. I have found no flaws with its operation to date. I would recommend this item to anyone who need to access CD's and do so effortlessly. A ggod buy for the price.

I love the portability of an add-on DVD reader/writer. Another plus is it fills the void left when many laptop PCs began omitting the DVD/CD drives to save space and weight. In my opinion this is a good buy for the $25 - $30 I paid for it. I have had no issues with it thus far.

I purchased this because my new Mac did not come with a slot for a DVD/CD - that's a whole other issue. It works great. It's slender and small and I can leave it on my desk and it doesn't take up much room, or stick it in a drawer. It's not that expensive -- a good value for the money.
