With the laptops now not being as bulky with the CD/DVD drives built in.... this is a must have. This is a great drive and handles DVD processing very well. Has good durabilty also.

good for a starter cd reader/writer for the price you get what you pay for! reads games like an hour

Since someone came up with this ridiculous idea of no DVD in my new computer I have the inconvenience of having to have an external one. As long a I am stuck, this is as good as it needs to be.

Hopefully will work on all the chromebooks etc. that come without dvds and so many new computers without dvds so you don't have to try to downloads to get programs to works with windows 10.

I purchased a laptop 3 years ago and never had to use a CD or DVD, but recently I needed to burn a CD disc and found this LG for less than $25.00, I was really amazed that it worked so well.

Installation was quick and easy. I use it to burn CD and DVD with images for clients. Small so it stores easily.

I selected the LG External Cd player because of its reliability, excellent Speed & how compact the product is.

still wasn't able to run dvds with the media software it gave me so maybe I am doing something wrong but it has been a great addition to my new laptop for software downloading and cd burning.

Device would not read dvds. Took back to the store and discovered Microsoft has removed the media DVDs player option in Windows 10 so we had to download another app to get device to work. Windows charges for their dvd playing app. Once dvd app was installed device works fine.

Worked well w/ the Dell laptop I got. Just the cd does not work with windows 10 -i thought it was broken but talking to customer service they told me that i have to go online and update the application.

I needed a very light and simple to use CD/DVD drive for the new laptop and the model worked exactly as promised.

Really no problems with this device. very smooth operation to "install" - actually no installation need. just plugged it into the USB port on my MacBook Air - and the device popped up as ready.

Great buy. Works like a charm, slim design make it easy to store it anywhere in my bag. Good value for the price.

Great for use with my Surface Pro 3 - since it has no optical drive. I love the fact that no external power source is needed to operate this drive. Just plug into the USB port and away you go.

Works great and easy to setup. I was surprised at how easy it was and quick too. Wasn't that expensive either.

I purchased this item because my new laptop had no CD drive on it. I thought that I would need this product to install all my previously purchased software. The ultra slim drive is definitely ultra slim. It is so light weight that I was afraid it would be too easily damaged. I ended up not needing it as all the software companies sent me new links to re-download previously purchased products. So I returned the drive to the store.

My previous DVD writer had water spilled on it so I needed to get a new drive. This one was very easy to setup and only uses one USB cable to work which is a plus. Flawless operation so far.

Dont worry about any software installations especially with newer Win10 as it will find all it needs and Windows does the work for you. Power is through the USB2 connection so nothing else to plug in. Just hit the single front button to open or close. I never bothered with the CD included so not really sure what is on it but possibly drivers for older Windows version
