As my Envy did not have a cd/dvd included this was an additional needed tool. Have only just attached, haven't used it yet, however, I do appreciate its compact streamline appearance.

External CD/DVD player is a must for anyone desiring to manage their own data mine, vs. putting it in the eCloud. This device is great for that purpose. Enhances document storage.

My latest computer did not come with dvd/cd drive. With most platforms available online via download, all i needed was a simple, compact, and durable drive. This (so far) has met that criteria.

This is a necessity with the newer laptops. To make the newer laptops thinner and lighter the manufacturers have chosen to omit the disc drives.

Bought this because Adobe Acrobat only came on a CD . Works just great and is pretty affordable and very slim. It's as fast as can be, reading a disc. Haven't tried burning anything yet.

This unit is inexpensive and great for sitting on a shelf, waiting for that once in awhile use. I do not recommend this unit for everyday use or too be carried in a brief case.

I purchased a laptop without a CD/DVD drive and the sales tech recommended this one...inexpensive and super easy to use. It works like a charm!!!

This little drive has done everything I've asked it to do in pretty quick fashion. The only hiccup that I've encountered is the firmware pop-up every time I start up the computer .

This is a good portable device for making permanent backup copies to CD or DVD. Good way to make sure you don't lose pictures or other data if your PC or a memory card goes bad.

I purchased this item to work with my new MacBook Pro which doesn't have a CD drive. I used it to install a few programs onto the laptop. It was very easy to use by following the instructions.

I bought this to go with my netbook to play a set of DVD lectures. The DVDs will not play on this DVD drive. It will play music cds just fine, and rip them, so I know I installed it correctly. I ended up watching said DVDs on a portable DVD player which plays them without a problem. So if you want this mainly for music, go for it. If you want it for DVDs... I'd be hesitant, it may work with some, but not with the ones I tried.

Since my new ASUS laptop came without a DVD player I did some research in order to purchase a good, but not too expensive, external DVD drive. Excellent choice. Easy to use!

Imagine my disappointment when we found out that the newer laptops did not have build in DVD drives...I'm not ready to live without one yet, so glad this one was available and rated well.

This was easy to hook up and initiate its use. Our salesman was great and even did a price check for us and bought it cheaper than the sales price. Has performed above our expectations.
