I bought a new laptop, then figured out it did not have an optical drive after I got home. This was the cheapest USB optical drive available at Best Buy. It works exactly as it should.

The drive is small and lightweight. It is working well, but take care not to stress the draw when inserting a disc because I don't think it would take much to break it.

I need external optical drive to install some programs. It's fast and quiet. Good buy for the money.

Great disc dive does what it says and works numbers for every need, a little process to set up but not hard to do. Everyone should get it for thr price its amazing.

I purchased this to go with my new Dell XPS 15 laptop because it didn't have one built in. It is really light weight and does exactly what I needed it to do. Would purchase it again.

This DVD external drive is okay for the price. My husband bought a second one as the first broke after about a year of minimal use. I forgot to tell him to try a different brand. Hoping this one lasts longer.

Just plug it in and go. Ripped tons of CDs to iTunes. Super simple to use.

I have only tried to use it once, and my computer went blank! I've been afraid to try again. It may not be the fault of the drive, but something else... As to whether I'd recommend it to a friend, I don't know yet. Sorry.

I bought this portable CD/DVD drive to install disk software to my tablet. Unfortunately, the table has a type C usb port and the adapter cable I bought to connect the type A DVD drive didn't fit with the type A. Then I discovered how to back up program CDs to a usb and used the usb to install to my tablet. Just to have an extra DVD drive, I kept the portable one and used it with my computer to make sure it works. It seems to work good, no problems. So, I will keep it anyway as an extra. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is a bit flimsy plastic. However, it wasn't expensive, $35.

I bought this unit for my Microsoft Surface so I can play music CD's and also save work to a CD. Works great. And not too expensive.

I use this everyday for class. Whether I'm showing DVDs in class or accessing my CD-ROM for my textbook, it works every time. It's a plug and play device so it's extremely easy.

This DVD/CD reader - writer has enabled me to take my full CD library with me wherever I go. I now have it at work, at the gym, in the car, and on my iPad. I absolutely love it!!!

Works great. Had to have something to play my college DVD for my class and it worked great. I was on vacation and had to have something quick and it worked great.

This is a light, easy to use/install DVD drive that works very well. I have had no issues with it, although I only needed it a couple of time to install software for my new laptop.

Would have been NICE to have some sort of easily accessible instructions as to EXACTLY how to use this thing to move stuff from one CPU to another. Especially if written so us OLD people can understand it.

I purchased the item to install some software that I needed for work onto a laptop that could not be moved to a jump drive. Now my kids use it for movies and such. Worked great.

I would expect a better software offering from a product like this. Any functionality you want requires you to spend more money to get the premium version of the software.

This CD/DVD writer/player is great. Just plug it into a USB port and your ready to go. The USB port powers it. Great if you have a laptop that doesn't have an optical drive.

I originally bought an Apple DVD drive for my MacBook Pro and it was unbelievably not compatible! I exchanged it for this drive and couldn't be happier. It was plug and play.

Fastest video burns I've ever done... I'd been grumbling about how the DVD is no longer a basic part of the new computers.... Not any more.... this "add on" device is awesome.
