Was not what I was looking for...could not watch movies on it.

This is a solid purchase if you get a netbook or mini laptop.

the drive is inexpensive and cheaply built, but does the job.

Painfully slow. Doesn't show in devices list on iMac.

I strictly wanted a cd player that could play a dvd or cd on my computer and I still haven't found out how to do so. I was told that I could when I purchased it, but it either doesn't or it is super complicated. I have reinstalled the device twice and still haven't figured it out :(

Only used once to load music and it preformed ok at this time.

I purchased this DVD player/burner for my Microsoft Surface. It works just great! No issues. The software that comes with it (DVD movie playing software) requires a purchase after 30 days. So its best to use some sort of freeware to watch DVD's. I have not tried the burning functionality yet.

It works great for what what we needed and good cost

Used this device in my surface pro 3 since, it does not come with a CD drive. It has pretty good write speeds and the write speeds are alright, that is where I would mark it off. If you can grab it on sale for 20-25 bucks, its a pretty good deal for a portable USB CD drive.

I just purchased a new TV, so I bought this DVD player so when I have company they could watch movies. We've used it once. It worked O.K. However, I had trouble figuring out how get the TV turned on again. After two hours and three Comcast representatives, we discovered it was easy. Press 3. (One representative gave up and told me I needed to schedule a technician.) I bought the DVD player at Best Buy. I thought I had the right cord, however, when I got home, I realized I didn't. I had to go back to Best Buy and purchase it. I didn't ask Best Buy to price match the DVD player, so I see now that I paid more than I could have. Best Buy gave me poor customer service when I bought an expensive laptop. I'm not going to buy anything from them again.

It did what I needed it to do. My new laptop does not have an optical drive and some of my software is on disc. I have not tried the write capabilities yet. It is very light weight and I'm a bit worried it will not hold up well to being packed around in a laptop case.

The external hard drive achieved my desired outcome.

I like the product. It works well for what I need.

Had trouble installing. After installation it played movies.

I am returning this external DVD drive. I realize that it could be a random thing, but this drive was so noisy that I wouldnt have been able to enjoy watching a DVD. I used it to install software and it couldn't do it.

I was hesitant about upgrading to Windows 10. But after having it for about 2 weeks to learn the system, turned out pretty good. Of course there are some things I'll miss about my Windows 7, but I'm enjoying this fast PC. Only downside that I'll miss is the CD-ROM =P
